Hi lads
Can anybody tell me the best line to use for barbel and what lbs braking strain.I am using maxima 12 lbs at the moment and want to change it some one said Red Mist is it any good cheers Jim  "BIG FISH ARE HARD TO COME BY- BUT COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT"

To be honest, with the conditions we have at the moment, the Maxima 12lb would be ideal. If your local river is not snaggy and the flow is back to a sensible pace, then you could go down to 8lb, but i find 10lb is a happy medium.
As for the brand of line. That thread could go on for years. Michael. |

i agree with above,nothing wrong with good old maxima,however having just spooled up with ultima power plus,it looks like a damn good line..12lb is fine,i use 10.

i have also jus spooled up with the power plus.
had my personal best on it last night(9lb  z) it coped very well and cast smoothly and everything you could ask for.if you want to change the line, then i dont think you will go wrong with ultima power plus, or the diawa sensor thats a good cheap line to. Dave |
