Pallatrax Neutral Glug |

Does anyone know how the Pallatrax Neutral Glug works? Im guessing you just pour your liquid flavour in but whats stops it from just sitting on the surface? Also could you over power the glug?

Neutral glug can be made yourself, go to Boots the chemist and buy a bottle of Gliserine I know I have spelt it wrong but I have an excuse! Just add a little water to obtain the viscosity that you want. Beware of oil based flavours as these will not mix, only float use a water soluble flavour. I have Boilies that have been in this type of glug for two years and still catch Barbel. I hope this helps.

any advice on how much water and how long it'll stay on the bait? Also do you add the flavour at the same time as the liquid? ------

Allan mentioned the water - I guess he's having a nap at the moment
I just finished making some glug literally minutes before reading this thread. I used glycerine from the chemist, added no water, added the flavour, shook it up. I still have some from last season and still smells ok. I generally just mount my boilies (glue back to back on the hair) and then dip in the glug, don't get it on my hands paul4 |

Only a few drops of water, just to slightly thin the glycerine, add your flavour at the same time strengh depends on what you want I use 10/15 mls. shake well and then add your baits until they are just covered by the glug. The longer you can leave it the better for the flavour to soak in. If you are new to this sort of thing, a little tip, most if not all fishy flavours are oil based and won't glug. put a few drops of flavour in a glass of water if it floats it's oil based. Oil based flavours need a different approach.

Hi Paul, it's my leg not my marbles! Ok so you don't have to thin it, it just makes the glycerine go a bit further. Me tight!

I have to confess that I have no idea if glycrine is ok with PVA over to someone that knows! I myself would be interested in this one.

Glycerine and PVA | ||

Hi Guys,
Now, I have PVA but no glycerine. Being an inquisitive sort of chap if I had some glycerine I would likely put a bit onto some PVA to see what happens and report it here If nobody has both maybe I'll head to the chemist tomorrow. Dodge |

Now please correct me if I'm wrong,
But doesnt glycerine emulsify oil? Just a quick shake does the trick? Regards, Lee. |

Us Burbot anglers have moved on since glugs. | ||

Dear Paul,
Yonks ago we used to use the stuff to emulsify oil based flavours in baits. Thinking back its a pretty daft idea seeing as the baits were boiled senseless anyway. However, the emulsification of say fish oils in pellets, glugs etc makes sense if you require said "slick" to remain sinking as opposed to floating upwards and gone in the blink of an eye like oil does? But something perhaps interesting for the glug'ists, especially if we are talking about pellets which I think are wonderous little contraptions, is what I do with the little blighters. Take your pellets intended for hook baits. Then take an oil based flavour such as Nash oil thingies. I use salmon flavour and mature lobster mixed 50/50 but any old oil based stuff will do. Take some cod liver oil, say 100ml, and add 20ml of the mixed flavour to that. Shake it up like a crazy cocktail waitress, then pour a bit over some pellets in a small plastic tub. Now then, if you use the flavour on its own without adding it to the cod liver oil it won't get drawn into the already oily pellet, but by adding it to the fish oil it will!!! You get left with pellets that are not covered in sticky goo, as the stuff has been sucked into the pellet, but hook baits that stink like a dead horse. Also "sink" like one too! Best part is they REALLY do work. Best not fished whilst using a centre pin reel as the hamster inside tends to run up the rod to try and snaffle the bait OK. Regards, Lee. |

PS.
Glycerine is made from animal fat? Which of course is oil based, kind of. Regards, Lee. |

A good centrepin fisher instinctively knows this - it keeps the little blighter hungry, making him really work for his living; it also stops him from giving you lip when things are quiet, or when you make a @#%$ cast. |
