Re: Fluorocarbon | ||

Krystonite is ok but i always found it a little too wirey above 10lb.
P-line is very supple which is why i like it,i use it as 15lb mainline and 12lb hooklinks,it breaks well above it's suggested strain aswell. |

Riverge(Grand Max)from Leslies is great stuff.
Supple and reliable from my experience. |

Nothing wrong with Fox Illusion either, very good line, high knot strength, abrasion resistance and low diameter to bs ratio.

Excuse my ignorance of buying from overseas, but how does the money thing work with something like this?
Does the credit card company take care of any conversions etc. and all you have to do is click on the right buttons? |

Thanks for that. It opens up a whole new world, literally. I don't think I'll bother to mention it to the wife.

Have any of you lads got any idea how Berkley Vanish Flurocarbon would be as a hook link Good or Bad I know its slightly of track but any help would be greatfully received
Thanks Scaz |

Vanish is so named cos after you hook a fish the line breaks and then the fish vanishes.
It is complete rubbish IMHO. Bill |

Re: Fluoro | ||

Ill back up the fact that flourocarbon's are @#%$. Ive tried a few Riverge max being the best.....but they snap without (seemingly) good reason.
Be warned use them at your peril.......... In my opinion there is no need or place for flourocarbon in Barbel fishing. |

(b4 reading this!)Got hold of some Vanish Transition cheap,
anyone know if this is any better than the original, or should it be binned? Also anyone used Fulling Mill World Class flurocarbon, was recomended it 2 years and used it a couple of times in the 8lb BS, and it seemed like good stuff and was thinking about getting some more in the 10BS. Thanks |

Re: Fluoro | ||

Mono's and fluoro do take on water so be aware of that which can reduce breaking strains by up to 20%. In a line rated around 10-12lb that could make a big difference.
For most barbel fishing it's not an issue as the line isn't submerged for long periods unlike say carp fishing when rigs can be out for days. 24hrs i think was mentioned where it's significant enough to make a difference. |

Re: Fluoro | ||

My 2 spools of Berkeley Vanish have been binned after losing small carp in the close season more than once.
Brilliant idea, but until they can make it softer and stronger, I won't waste any more hard earned on it. Phil |

Phil,
Berkeley Vanish is notorious for being a consistent poor knotter and breaking well under its stated bs. I first bought some in 2000 from NZ when i was on holiday. The first time i tried it it broke under not too considerable pressure. The other makes that people have suggested really are safe in all but the worse conditions. 12lb Illusion has never let me down in the time ive been using it. Mind you it did take me a few years to get my confidence back using it, so i know how you feel. Wurzel |
