I know a lot of us on here don't like to see bivvys on the riverbank but after spending a week on the Severn soaked to the skin I am changing my mind.
The Fox evolution weighs 6.5 kilos and can be set up in less than a minute. A good brolly can weigh 4.5 kilos, so there is not much difference in the weight.
The bivvy offers you far better cover and can keep your gear totally dry, my gear ended up soaked, muddy and weighing what seemed twice as much as when I set off.
I will take my bivvy next year when I go next year.

takes but a couple of minutes to set up too...j.w
, havent used it on the river yet as some of the banks are quite steep where i fish , also the swims can be a bit tight , & i would struggle to put it up , if you fish a nice flat(ish) bank then you will be fine , but consider the above 1st
