Derek,
I finally bit the bullet last season and I have to say, fished along side a boilie that I had every confidence in, the pellets won hands down! ........but this season I have a cunning plan.............and the pellets will be left at home Darren. PS Which book did you go for in the end? |

Next season im not going to bother much with pellets, although the fish addore them they are also cautios of them once they have been caught on them a few time. Although it is alot more expensive i am going to be fishing with particle baits next and natural baits, because there are very few on my river that dont fish with pellets.

Re: pellits | ||

the main reson that im going to be using naturals is how often does a barbel naturally see a pellets or boilie falling in the river off the pellet or boilie tree

Re: pellits | ||

I find that small pellets are great at attracting fish but "trimmed/apple cored" boilies and big lob worms are better on the hook. I find that the fish crush the pellet of the hair more easily than they do a softer boilie. I must admit that a lot of chub live in my swims so probably not a fair comment when applied to rivers with larger barbel populations.
I would never go river fishing without a mixture of 1mm & 3mm stim pellets to throw in, it would be like carp fishing without a method mix. |

Re: pellits | ||

hi,john,they will be there alright,but after a session last season of the barbel not picking up the pellets,due to the fact[i think of a large amount of pellets further downstream from another anglers session]that where lying on the bottom,and being ignored,which is why ime going to try a different approach.cheers derek.

Hi all,
I will be using pellets and boillies this year(as I have for the last 4 seasons).On my part of the Kennet I think they see so many pellets that they think there a natural food But I will be using a ground bait feeder more this season. Rich |
