The only way line can be camoflaged is if it is buried under the bottom debries like Derek advocates.......how many bother to do that?
why do you need camo line for gods sake!!!! Barbel is just another spieces of dumb fish that live off its instincts and its thought process is governed by Food and reproduction........thats it!! They are not intelligent as we as humans rationalise using our minds to think what is right or wrong (well some do!) If you want to go down the "Camo" route think about your approach to the fish, ie not letting them know you are there. This can be done wearing a white t-shirt if done correctly! think about your approach to the water and not casting shadows, keep of the skyline and prepair your swim properly. for the record my line is Big Game 10/12ibs grey and the reason is its tough, and has not let me down! I dress in Drab clothing because i prefer to blend in my surroundings for obvious reasons, as an example If I am going to the pub will dress in bright yellows and blues so I blend in with the locals, and the same at the river bank. Camo line does not exist I am afraid, and plenty of fish are caught on good old maxima etc. Rather then some on here going on about this same old stuff lets see from the anglers who seem so obsessed with "camo end gear" looking at the much wider picture of why they have to go down this boring old path to improve their catch rate. Why many anglers such as "Trevor West catch Barbel on a almost Daily Basis is that down to "Camo" or just good preparation, and then good presentation |

Hi Shippo
Found this example of Cameo attire :- www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_7Kp_TapA4 Do you think it will catch on on the banks? Regards Paul. |

Fish can be bothered by line, Ive seen carp spook off line sticking up off the bottom.
Not so sure on barbel as I fish the lower severn. I dont bother with all this camo stuff, as long as it doesnt stand out like a sore thumb Im happy. Berkley big game for me too... |

Re: Latest 'word-up' on cameo gear | ||

Went through a phase of using clear line for clear river conditions and a coloured line for coloured water conditions.
Last season used Diawa infinity camo line. None of it seemed to make a jot of difference at any time. The only person who was fooled was me really! Using the new suffix camo this year on the still waters, prefer it to the Diawa. Will be using my usual clear stuff on the rivers. I am more concerned about diameters than colour as I think a thickish wirey line will spook the fish more than a lower diameter supple line. |
