yep i picked up some at the BS conference. Smell completely different from the usual fishmeal based stuff. Worth a try, apparantly the barbel feed on spawn of sea lamprey which then die in the rivers - i love a good story and brought 3 bags straight away

Excuse me if I have a chuckle here......
Well hooked you little tinca...... Did you know a certain person pulps the lampreys to mush in a backyard in lowry country to obtain the essence of Lamprey! Nice one Perry. Pons |

Re: Lamprey boilies | ||

I tried Laprey sections on the Mole and only got Chub and Pike.
There again, I tried Monster Crab boilies and caught Barbel and Carp, no chub or Pike. Hallibut flavoured baits catch all sorts of fish. It's a funny old game. |

So what happened to Waka's then (which Teme Severn were supplying) are they out of fashion

Never mind Wakas whatever happened to eurotec. A few years ago they had some great field testers and well known anglers telling us how good there products were

Concoctions made to catch anglers? | ||
|
I was wondering,
If any of the bait barrons ever came up with "Tramps Vest" flavoured boilees? Regards, Lee. |

Well if I didn't know better I would think that this thread is simply another product hype
Brought to you exclusively by the same people who brought us Wakas not so long ago .....and, no doubt, will bring us many more in future. No wonder many no longer bother posting. |

Re: Lamprey boilies | ||

A good bait is a good bait end of really! What's important to me is quality ingredients, if a bait has that...I'm confident in that bait. Now I was lucky enough to have been asked to field test for Eurotec some years ago. And be of no doubt, it was a quality bait that caught a lot of fish. The Pons will also recall our chance meeting down on the Lower Severn 18 months or so ago, whilst he was wearing his EA cap and Stealth Wellies! We shared a few laughs over a coffee at my van and Chris kindly gave me a goody bag full of some of his own supply of the Waka Frankie jobbies...I caught on them that same session. Now Chris will correct me if I'm wrong? But I don't think he would use dodgey gear for his own personal use! I don't see the Lamprey boilies are any different, in the fact that, they too are a high quality bait that anyone can have total confidence in using. But don't take my word for it! Chuck some in a river or lake and see for yourself. Dazza... |

Re: Lamprey boilies | ||
Quote: I was under the understanding that rather than being hallibut flavoured, hallibut pellets were produced as feed for hallibut, the same as trout pellet are trout food and salmon pellets are salmon food. However this all changes whan you get to oil as salmon oil is made from salmon, cod liver oil is made from cod livers and lamprey is made from lamprey. When we start talking about boillies it all changes again as lamprey boilies are flavoured with lamprey, monster crab boilies are flavoured with monster crab and hallibut boilies boilies are flavoured with hallibut pellets Your right, it is a funny old game. Adrian.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next meeting of the Shropshire region of the Barbel Society will be on Friday the 13th of July. Dave Mason and Stuart Court will be the speakers on the night with a brand new presentation featuring amongst other things demonstrations of rig tying and bait making. More details to follow. |

Actually Morston,The Lamprey Boilies are n'owt to do with me,Teme Severn sell them.
One of your usual negative posts ,that we have come to expect of you,so perhaps you are more the cause of ill feeling. Pons |

Re: Lamprey boilies | ||

Sounds like Morston has hit nail on the head looks like product hype to me also. Wouldn't be to shocked if most of the ones singing the praises of the wonder bait are field testers. It's like eurotec all over again.

Re: Lamprey boilies | ||

I'd like to clarify a couple of things if I may? As far as I can see, no one is saying that there's any magical wonder bait here! I personally don't have any connection with two of the three baits I mentioned in my eariler post. Just the fact that they are, or were ALL good quality baits that I have caught fish on in the past. As for 'free bait' ...that just does not happen. Ok maybe you do, if you've won the Drennan Cup or you write in one of the fishing rags! But not your everyday field testers. You might get slightly reduced rates in return for feedback/help with product development? The question was posted about these particular boillies and people came on to give their honest opinion. I'm sure if the site owners had any problem with that? They would either say or do something about it quick smart! Dazza... |

Re: Lamprey boilies | ||

I dont see a bit of hype in this thread... Dazza - you are quite right, why on earth would a barbel fishing website not want threads about barbel fishing baits???
From a personal point of view I am giving these boilies a go for Catfish, and have had one 5 night blank so far... Andy |
