The Webtex one I reviewed is still going strong, but there are lighter in terms of weight and capacity.
If you are looking for alternatives then there are quite a few out there.
There are also loads of webbing options where you can add pouches to a main belt - maybe giving you a belt to suit your particular needs.
The SA Viper vest (I have one brand new) in plain green gives an intermediate option. At between 25 to £30 it's also a cheaper option than the Webtex and appears well made.
Good starting point is ebay. Search on 'webbing', 'tactical vest', 'SWAT vest', 'Webtex' or 'PLCE' .
I have a few fishing waistcoats - from cheap to expensive but personally prefer the tact vest. The Tact Vests are usually made of heavier waterproof material and generally more robust. The one I use and reviewed is made of 1000 denier cordura and is the Webtex Classic model. It offers zip on additional 10l pouches. Just wish they would make it in plain green.
Cheers
Bob
