That sounds like a great meeting with some really good anglers. Wish we had a society like that in South Wales.

Ken
I'm think a bit ago there was a thread where, BB King and the Pons said they would organising meetings for BFW members. Maybe they've got something planned for your area, or you could help them out and organise a meeting yourself for your area. John |

Hope to see some BFW members at this meeting next week, it should be a good one.
Fred will bring along a few droppers and the talk will be totally revamped to suit the location. Lots of stories going back to the sixties and BCC reminiscing, we'll keep it to a reasonable length so that there's plenty of time for a forum. Pete has just returned from a very positive meeting with the EA hierarchy and this should lead to interesting discussion. Look forward to seeing some of you there. |

Where to start?! Chris is a brilliant barbel angler who has also caught more than a fair share of huge chub! I first met him back in the late eighties when he was Regional Organiser for the fledgling London Region of the Barbel Catchers Club. After the Catchers he was heavily involved with The Barbel Study Group and is also a founder member of the BS. Over the years Chris has caught many double figure barbel from a number of rivers, in the early days mostly from the Lea but since moving down to the Christchurch area the Stour and Avon have become his home territory. He is a highly regarded guide and is often in the press mainly the Mail and is often to be seen in Andy Littles features. Chris is one of the many barbel anglers who dont use the Internet forums but he has huge respect from all those who know him. Im sure if Ray reads this he could add his thoughts as well. |

I fished with, and drunk far too much with, Chris on many occassions during the 90's.
He did post on here once,........ just the once. Good angler and very enthusiastic, worth a listen to. |

'who Chris Holley' | ||

Ive been there as well Tony. Remember the nights up the highlander ??? I thought Holly could drink
He is though, a quality alround angler, whos certainly worth talking too......... well listening too anyway. It will be a very good turnout allround, looking forward to it myself, but wont be there till a bit later. Steve, hows wonderful Essex these days? I moved down to Ringwood nearly 5 years ago now and never looked back. ( used to live next to the now gone fortune of war, where we had our Essex BS meetings ) Met Alan Oliver up on the Severn last october, a face i had'nt seen for a while. See you tommorow night. Regards John. |

Tomorrow Night | ||
|
Hi John,
Look forward to seeing you tomorrow, it hasn't gone unnoticed how well you've been doing since emigrating to the South! The For Sale board has gone up again and I can't wait to escape, been in Essex for far too long now and its just too far from the best rivers! Not sure where i'll end up living, did fancy the Teme Valley but not sure I'd be too well received in the area! Probably be somewhere near there though. Some good nights and memories at the old Fortune of War. |

I propose Steve comes and lives in Sutton-on-Trent, in a bivvie or caravan of course, but failing that, my first choice for him would be-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Australia.
