The fox soft steel is really strong, but i had the same problems as you with the line going curly and getting caught too often around the tip before re-casting.
The two lines ive been using this year and can recommend both are the shimano catana in 10lb bs and gardner GT80 in 12lb bs. Neither of these lines curl up like soft steel and both have been very strong and reliable. Both also have good abrasion resistance and knot well with a palomar, which i use nearly 100% of the time. wurzel http://www.barbelzone.co.uk/

I`ve been on green ESP in 10lb for the last couple of years. It does kink a bit but its really tough and stands up well to the bedrock on the Middle Severn.
Can`t see myself changing to anything else. ![]() By three methods we may learn the wisdom to catch barbel: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.-(Apologies to Confucius!) |

Robbo think you will find the same problems with krystonite, I switched over to suffix xcelon this season, it's not bad but I think there are better products out there, going to give big game clear a try.

I've been using good old Diawa Sensor clear in 10lb and although it's cheap I've had no problems at all. I also think Big Game is a good tough line and very much like Diawa Sensor.

Ive been using diawa sensor 15lb, and ive had no problems, although i find it kinks easily. Ive heard the GR60 is good so might try that.

I've been using Pro-gold this season, and so far I can't fault it.
Landed some real nice fish from some rather tricky areas, as well as a hefty carp earlier in the season whilst tenching! That Bass Pro looks interesting, and I've been meaning to try it for ages, but for now the Pro-gold is staying on the reels. Regards, Joe. |

Re: Line | ||

Looking at that table you would say in 12lb breaking strain that GL pro clear and Daiwa Sensor Clear are the top choices, although that table doesn't tell us about abrasions resistance
