I'm looking to purchase a new Rod Holdall that will take 2 built-up rods & reels, before I go rushing out I thought I'd ask you guys if you know of any decent ones or can offer me some advice.
Cheers,

Me too. Use a quiver at the moment, very little protection for the rod or reel when you are as hamfisted as me.
Are any of the single ones big enough to take 2 rods? Also they seem to only have carry handles. Phil |

The Nash quiver vastly improved things for me- 2 seasons now and no sign of damage- and its been LOADED up before now including gallon water bottle slid down the centre followed by a full oval daiwa brolly, two set rods, net + handle, bank sticks etc.

you could try the chub triple s rod sleeve its made to take 3 rods with reels but i find its great for two rods with reels and the middle takes the bank sticks, landing net, unhooking mat and it has ahandle to sling it on your shoulder costs about 25 quid i have twogreat stuff

Just clicked on the link - quote from Fox;
"Designed to cater for the short session mobile angler who only needs to carry four rods..." Short Session? Four Rods? I dread to think what the "short session mobile angler " might need to carry for a whole day in one swim! |

Phil,
I notice the advert mentions it can take a bivvy aswell.. I've often thought about doing the odd short session but I don't fancy `putting my back out' carrying all that kit.. I think i'll stick to my 10-12hr one rod and no bivvy approach |

There is also the Shimano tribal Billy. Well worth a look at.

I use one of these and love it.
With two of these. the sleeves are very minimalist with Velcro fastening and no padding but I love this combination...And the price & weight is right. But make sure you put bank sticks in the quiver with the point facing up. When I first got it i didn't, now I have a small drainage hole in the bottom. If Fox ever redesign this superb sling they won't go far wrong if the added a moulded base |

I really like the look of the shimano one adamphtg, is this the one you use?
They all look roomy but can the accomodate a brolly and the bank sticks plus landing net handle/ Cheers,

Re: Rod Sleeves | ||

Billy,
It utilises your landing net handle as a spine, No room for a brolly I'm afraid. Lightweight means leightweight in this case. I use one of these for short trips and a Fox Quiver for trips requiring brolly etc. Opener of worm cans and surveyor of the moral high ground.

Finally settled on a Wychwood 3 rod sleeve, nice and light weight and enough capacity to take my brolly, rod rests and landing net.
I had a good look at the sleeves suggested and some were great but the deciding factor was 1/3 discount I managed to haggle. Thanks for the help guys. Cheers,

Dear Billy,
How much did you get it for,and where from.The cheapest i can find on the net is 28 for the 3 rod and 24 pounds for the 2 rod. Does it have a stiffener in it or not . Thanks Rob. |
