A fair few people have wondered. Someone a few years ago suggested the gunmaker, Westley Richards, which, like many other gun outfits in the old days, also dabbled in fishing tackle. The one man who could have told us, an old pal of mine named Gordon Edwards, has been dead nineteen years this autumn - he knew the people who made the reels, visiting the workshop / factory somewhere in the late 1950s or early '60s.
