As angling times printed the last time.."I don't want anyone else to catch it and break my record" - in so many words! What a @#%$.

Lavendon,
I think you will find that that quote in the Angling Times was false and was corrected a week later by Graham King in the letters page. Spiros |

Shame its the same fish and same angler, but if he pays
the money to fish the water, who is anyone to tell him he's in the wrong. Well done Graham. |

Not sure about that Spiros as he told the same to all his fishing buddies, who must now think he is a bit of 'catch at all costs' angler and a bit of a nutter.

I wonder how old this fish is. I would guess that it can't have many seasons left of record breaking, before it starts to
lose condition due to old age. Truth is, no one else has caught it at these weights and there's plenty who have or are trying, I'm sure Graham King isn't attached via umbilical cord to this fish, so well done to the guy, stop bitchin about it, its pathetic |

It is true but unfortunately i can't defend Graham this time.
I hope people don't tar all the anglers who fish this stretch with the same brush. It is a personal decision on Grahams part to continue to fish the stretch and obviously you can only catch the fish that are in it.My personal choice would have been to leave the stretch after catching the record the first time but each to his own. Nearly all the anglers i have spoken to on the banks of adams mill would take the decision to move on after catching a record fish. Graham is a good angler who enjoys his fishing at the mill but luck or fate has to play a massive part in the captures of this fish. There have been hundreds of angling hours put in at the mill by many really competant anglers in perfect conditions since the travellers last visit to the bank which was around 2 months ago(and it was'nt reported to the press),it has managed to avoid capture throughout this period so anyone who thinks this fish is a mug or that its like fishing a goldfish bowl is wildly mistaken. The fact is that there has'nt been any fish on the bank for nearly 3 weeks at the mill. The perception of the anglers and the fishing on adams are not at all accurate on the whole and situations like this don't do the fishery a lot of good but as has been said before its Graham's decision to continue to fish it and nobody can make him leave the syndicate if he enjoys it. There are very few occasions when you can actually target this particular fish because its not daft and rarely shows itself so people who think its hounded day in day out are wrong. It tends to get caught 5 times a season on average so fish swimming around in alot of stretches on most rivers up and down the country are on the bank more regularly than these Ouse fish, only we don't all recognise them each time. Also remember Adams Mill is day fishing only,no nights so they are not pressured 24 hours a day like alot of other stretches of river. I'm sure Graham will be in for a bit of stick over this latest capture and maybe its deserved, but please don't dis-regard the beauty of the biggest barbel in the country just because the same angler has caught it again. Its a fine fish in mint condition that has been looked after by everyone that has been lucky enough to catch it,which to me is the main thing. |

How comes graham always draws No1 or 2 ball everytime and gets the best peg where the traveller lives, stuart?

The question is how much more weight could it put on with winter having not hit us properly yet.

Stuart,
My repects for a very balanced post (No 170). I'm sure Graham loves Adams and the fish that live there and who would begrudge him that? When he catches the Traveller again though, why not just admire her beauty, stroke her flank, take a quick piccie then slip her back and keep quiet about it? Live by the sword and all that . . . ATB Mark. |

Funny how a fish called the traveller lives in the same peg

Ijakk,It does'nt live in the same peg(we call them swims down here
Mark,i would totally agree with that policy,as would many of the members, unfortunately you can't make others see the light. When it boils down to it,if you don't want to catch it,fish another stretch/river. |

Hi all,
I think it's a great thing that this fish is getting bigger, as they are on all our beautiful rivers, gives us all something to aspire to...........I for one would love to catch a record fish. It is probably time for Graham to read our thread on how many rivers, the challenge must diminish the more you get to know a stretch of river and the fish in it, maybe he should prove his worth and go set some other river records.......
