I tried this a few years back whilst carp fishing and it worked very well, I think mostly because of the way the Carp picked up the bait made it difficult for them to eject it. I think that A barbel could find the same problem, after watching a barbel pick up my pva bag immediatly it went in, I thought about tieing on more than one hair to see if by placing multiple baits infront would confuse it? I was actully using five dumbels, three on one hair and two on the other, it worked a treat, since then i have played around with this a fare bit and had some amazing results. Has any of you nice Gents tried this if so whats your findings? $:\$

I can see the logic. And I think it might work. You could try different baits on different hairs. Or have, say, thre or four hairs each loaded with "micro" baits. I really must give it it a go.......... Steve

Posts: 435 (11/12/06 18:47) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Used up to 5 hairs when they are focused on hemp, pain in the harris to string up 5 hairs with up to 6 grains of hemp on each!!!! Works well though when the conditions are right. Opener of worm cans and surveyor of the moral high ground. Alcohol and calculus don't mix. Never drink and derive.

I can't see why it should be any different for the use of a boilie or pellet etc

Posts: 737 (11/12/06 19:05) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	If you're getting a barbel hitting on your PVA bag, you could always make one up with stones on one side of the 'stick' a few free offerings and then your hook on the opposite side of the stick. That way, as your PVA stick hit the bottom, the stones would take it down and right it up the right way so that your hook was neatly lying on top of your PVA stick.

Posts: 212 (11/12/06 19:07) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I totaly agree that it has been used a long while ago as i said i tried it years ago, but not many have tried it with larger baits I have tried it with upto 7 baits on three hairs much beyond that Im not sure there probably would be a cut off point where as the baits are to big but who knows.

Can't believe I haven't thought of mulitple hairs myself!!! Maybe you would need a peice of PVA foam on the hook to stop them all tangling? It would be interesting to use a Fox Series 5 or similar long shank, tie a D rig with 3 or 4 rings, then you could have single boillies/pellets on each or pairs of singles or pairs of multiples, or random patterns down the shank, this would give the illusion of a tight pile of 3 to 12 loose feed boillies but underneath is a big old size 4! If the hook is a bright finish though I would be included to put a hook skin on before tieing the rig so that it doesn't spoil the effect. Can't see it failing if they are hungry.
