Does anyone know whether T.C Pit just outside Oxford is now reopened for fishing????????? I have heard so many rumours of late ranging from its now open as a syndicate water to its open to all free of charge just need a valid E.A license. Do you know who actually owns the pit as I was always under the impression it was Thames Water and they allowed fishing on it for free until the police stopped people parking on the side of A34 due to it causing an obstruction. Along with risk of contracting Weill's (excuse spelling) disease from the water. I did hear that an escapee from nearby immigration detention centre drowned in a mound of dredged silt and c**p from the canal next to lake????

All arrived after the summer floods.

When they were sold off the river roles i.e. flood defence, fisheries, pollution etc became The National Rivers Authority which was then absorbed into the Environment Agency. So there is, rather was a connection between the E.A. and Thames Conservancy as they are or were in essence parts of the same beast. Thames Conservancy were disbanded in about 1979 I believe so they no longer exist as an organisation. D.C. Find a pin and pick it up, all day long you`ll have.......a pin.

Roads next to two banks along with the railway, a canal on another, then the Kings Stream on the fourth bank. Great memories from the 70's and early 80' but not been back since.

I used to fish it myself for tench in late eighties early nineties. Was always under the impression that it was a Thames Water owned lake and was free fishing. Guess I was right to some small degree. Though I like all the rest was obviously poaching, happy days none the less. A great shame to angling its no fishing on the lake as its a real gem.

I have investigated the possibility of angling on this pit to be met with a a negative response on every occassion. You`ll probably be told its a health and safety/ personal liability issue. On the quiet I would imagine its being fished without permission and a regular check over the shoulder, if you get my drift. Regards D.C. No parking now the road works are on the A34 viaduct but i'm lucky and work at the hotel and can park securely even though it's a bit of a walk. You do meet some very strange people down there so best to go with a mate! as always it comes alive after dark...when all those strange people turn up! you might even bump into the odd EA employee that fishes it, even though nobody should be, of course no one fishes it nowadays and there are no large carp in there either!
