John, congrats on your Thames moggy, you won't forget that in a hurry.
Pete, good to see you earlier, fingers crossed tonight. Lilly thought your camo pyjamas were very fetching . You did'nt mention WSG earlier - wots that then ? Hacks me off to see a
load of Pole's on the middle this weekend. Litter and bonfires , not
to mention what they probably had for their suppers. One barbel blank for me ( missed a wrap round first chuck ) and then one carp blank lastnight to luchtime today but it's early days.
I've heard of decent carp, barbel and chub out close by, so there's hope ! Duncan. |

Well that proves what people have been saying for a while, that there are cats in the Thames and the frightning thing is there are a lot bigger ones than that, and look at the gob of that one, it will easily take a 4lb chub. On a couple of occasions around Sunbury/Sheperton something has totally smashed me to pieces and it was not a carp while fishing for Barbel. As for the Barbel fishing I have had 3 Bream and thats it.

Got out for the first time last night, fished until 01:00. Had a fin perfect/scale perfect model of a barbel that screamed off on the take, pulled like mad and knocked the scales down to 9 pound 4. weight doesn't matter when the fish is in such condition. Thanks Mark for popping down and doing the photo. 2 Bites, missed a cracking bite just after the barbel. Still getting used to the bait runner! |

Re the Poles - Out on the boat last weekend saw a hell of alot of them over the three pounds we covered.
EA boat come over to say hello - was amazed that they didnt check our rod licenses. Fishing was mediocre |

Nice fish Pete, nice way to get off the mark for the new season
As Sir Bax outlined, a couple of days on the boat, all very enjoyable even though the fishing wasn't spectacular. Kicked off with a nice common at 15.8 then lost one of it's bigger cousins at 03.00am in the morning that absolutely melted the spool...Yer win some, yer lose...Guy also had a pick up but didn't connect with it. A flick of various bits of plastic resulted in 10 very lively pike, which was fun. Interesting re the colour of the river, some lower pounds that brown tea colour, others much much clearer, curious... Plenty of time chaps, plenty of time. Ian
"A mound of earth on Walton Breck Road was created for the growing numbers of fans to watch the team. It was called the 'Spion Kop' after a
battle in the Boer War six years earlier. It was not the only Kop - low hill in Afrikaans - nor the first. But it would become the greatest......."

jus got back from the thames at walton and didnt have a knock or nothing , had 2 guys fishing next swim along aswell and they had nothing aswell fished from 6
till 12 ... see a dead pike float past around the 5lb mark i watched it cautiously as i thought that a bigger pike maybe would have come and taken it off the
surface but it never , oh well until next week .. good luck .. Ant

The middle is now crystal clear, has been for a while now. As above, the odd barbel and carp coming out to those lucky enough to be in the right place at
the right time but generally it's pants. Even the chub & bream aren't havin it. Maggot anglers also struggling to catch silver fish in any
numbers. I've done 5 blanks since the start, today I went pit tenching, blanked there n'all Dunc.
