I hooked a tarpon this afternoon. I got to see it jump then it shredded me using a 6ft 80lb hooklength. I guesstimate it was about 80lb. I am using a pair of 2.75lb carp rods so think I maybe upgrading at somepoint in the near future. Cheers Andy

Just got to get onto the fish quicker as I was having s discussion about something or other with the youngest step son and noticed the baitrunner whirring. If I can get at it before it builds up that first run I have a shot, OK going to have to upgrade the hooklength but worth a go ! Cheers Andy

At the moment I am using 15lb mono but that will be changing to 50lb PowerPro when the new baby arrives and my mother comes over with some bits and bobs from home. Yes if money where no object then I would have a change of tackle but alas those days are in the past at the moment so will have to put up with what I have at the moment. I have my eyes on a pair of Shimano Thunnus but they are going to have to wait. That said I am pretty confident I will land one before they move south for the winter. Cheers Andy
