Hi All
Can any of you out there tell me what breed of Duck this is on my Local River today.
Not great on picture but it had a Bright Red Eyes,just never seen one on my Local before.

you want a name too call the duck ,well the duck's breed name is Call ...its a call duck ,its short bill is the dead giveaway .

It's a mongrel I'm afraid, probably a female one at that with a bit of Mallard and a bit of farm yard, who knows?

It has the tail of a Ruddy duck but not the beak, Female Ruddy Mallard cross.

More than likely a juvenile Wood Duck or Wood Duck cross, not native in the UK, but escaped (or released!) ornamental. |

yes, looks like one of those definite. Its a funny time of year for duck ID as they are going through their yearly moult at the moment. Its called the
"eclipse" where waterfowl are "flightless" . They can fly a little but nowhere near as strong asusual. Lots of waterfowl on the waters now.
Saw bloody loads of mallard on the ouse the other night. Goosanders too are on the up and up. Never used to see them, but now they are everywhere on the river.

Seen a few of those ducks on the severn hanging about with a group of juvenile mallards... the photo on the first picture is definatly not a wood duck
though... personally from a bird keepers view its a hybrid mallard?!?!?!
