After 5 years of trying to catch a barbel i finally managed in achieving my aim , spent friday night on the avon with a mate in a swim which didnt look likely
to hold barbel but all other swims were taken , baited up cast out and sat and enjoyed the evening , changed bait from a boilie to two small pellets on a hair
and re cast , well at half three in the morning thought id have a cuppa and bang goes the baitrunner , 10 foot dash to the rod and struck into a steam train !!
10 minutes and a lot of sweating later barbel landed , heeded peoples advice from this site and rested fish in net before placing on unhooking mat , at this
point realising how big the fish actually was ! weighed on two sets of scales to make sure of the weight and then rested back in net in the flow for about 10
mins before she looked ready to swim off which she did very strongly . result 15lb 6oz fish , sat shaking my head for the next two hours hardly able to believe
it , needless to say aint stopped smiling since .

Barbel fishing, easy !
Well done, bet there is still a glow. You could easily spend a life time trying to beat that in fact we have folks here that have been barbelling for decades and not broken 10lb so well done is a vast understatement but hey you have to be there to catch and you were.
Cheers
