Hi FISHLESS - with regards to the above or below the dead cow question - check your personnal messages. We're not allowed to talk about fishing on here remember otherwise we'll get slated for not being an A grade english language student. I'm starting to think there's a few former Salmon anglers on here who think they should have the river to themselves, while us commoners should be hard at work shoveling %!@@ or something. Is shoveling one or two l's?

got told there was around 3ft on yesterday matey and it should be ok today , not seen it though myself , not sure how much rain there has been in the
surrounding areas

cheers stu been quite a bit of rain ere so thoughrt it might be up quite taking into account didnt know ow much comes in from other rivers

Sorry Rik20/barbelmicky - but i am a women, you should expect these things at certain times of the month. No more bitching for a few weeks i promise.
Seriuos barbel discussion now: I asked earlier if any of you guys look to identify individual fish and hence re-captures - is the lack of response because you don't - or because we got lost in the bitchng? Or is because none of you like me? Hows she looking today MrHalibut - intended to fish again today but decided against it as i thought it might be busy - anyone on? Will be on again on tuesday and wednesday ( angling that is - my cycles not that quick ) hope to see you on the banks. |

I just want to say that I now understand why some find the Ribble so beguiling - at least where I was fishing.
And I am already looking forward to my next trip to this wonderful river that you fish. Regards, Dave |

Give me a big old river like the Ribble anyday as opposed to some of these piddly little streams that some people fish down south.Due to the fact that I used
to be an ex sea fisherman fishing these types of venues and some of these tiny carp puddles is about as appealing to me as sticking red hot needles in my
eyes.The big rivers definitely hold more mystery.
As regards to identifying individual fish I never seem to bother unless they have defects like missing/damaged fins or something similar.Of course if you catch a fish the same weight in a similar part of the river then chances are it is a recapture. |

a water not to far from us has recently had a lot of trouble recently with our foreign freinds with handlines this water Clifton Marina is well policed so what
chance do we have on rivers unless they are spotted fixing them be as vigilante as you can watch out for sticks etc stuck into banking etc

I find it hard to believe that the police and authorities decide not to take serious action on those caught stealing fish from our rivers and lakes. I know
Clifton Marina well and understand that this is well baliffed, plus has a regular high number of anglers on it daily. How do the rivers stand a chance when
there is such few anglers fishing them.
