Crooky, Sunday on the Loddon too would be great and it'll give Mr T a chance to show his guarantee of fish from any river is not a fluke.
No pressure Ian. OH has got to get busy shuffling committments but hopefully it'll be okay.
Thanks guys, can't wait.

Fished the river this evening, I blanked as has everyone else on the venue. I have half a day tomorrow and am considering doing a bit of tench fishing for a
change, getting bored of the lack of barbel around at the moment.

No, what you do is cleverly cutout and paste...
.... into Google Maps. Then press the ' search all likely spots...' button, and whaM!, up it comes. Peg number and everything. Or, take a snap on your digital of every likely looking swim, or swim background, and get Elements to do a face match. Works every time. As a backup, take that copy of AT, and leaf match the swim. It's tedious boys, but I've done it, and it works, on The Medway. the swim, not the fish, whatwife |

Hi All,
New to this forum, however i have been what you guy's call lurking...........I have been fishing for whiskers for around 20 years and i'm still not bored of the enigmatic prince of the river. I had some good fortune at what appears to be quite an unfancied length of the kennet as there was only myself and two others fishing at CALPAC'S sulhampstead and had an 11.2 Boris (pic in gallery) along with 2 good chub both over 5lb. Does anyone know any more about this stretch and what it holds as i intend to give it another bash untill i decide which ticket to purchase and spend the season on. Any help and guidance would be gratefully accepted. Cheers |

Hi there 'Justchillin',
That stretch that you mention at Sulhampstead is indeed a good section, however if you are looking to join a club then I would look into RDAA because they control the opposite bank. So basically for the same money you'll get that same stretch you were fishing (just from the opposite bank) plus alot more besides. Try going onto www.rdaa.co.uk , and you'll find out some information about the Sulhamstead section in both the river descriptions and in the forum. Hope this helps. Darren |

Would anyone sport me a guest ticket on Thursday? I will be in Reading for a meeting and will be able to get to the Loddon or Kennet for about 3:30 - 4pm. I am
a Medway angler with the RTWA and would love the chance to fish a new river. Just found out that it's my future father in law's birthday on Thursday so
have to attend the meal. The Kennet/Lodden will have to wait another day. Thanks to the guys that PM'd me.

It would appear the fishing is picking up on the Kennet now.
I fished the river yesterday near Newbury and had a blinding session catching 7 barbel. I had a double on the first chuck 11lb 6oz, a new PB for me beating my old by only 4oz, it had a very fat gut, looks like its been eating well. The swim went dead for around an hour after that then I had a mad couple of hours with 5 smaller fish all in the 5 to 7lb bracket. The swim died again but I had another just before I had to leave at around 7.45pm. The river looked lovely yesterday back down to normal summer levels and the water was almost clear with just a tinge of colour in it. There are some fast gravel shollows on the venue and its good to see there is plenty of streamer weed on them this year, the river looked to be teaming with life, loads of fry swimming about in the shallows, I even got to see a couple of perch attacking them down in the clear water. What a top afternoon sitting in the sun catching some fish at last, I spoke to another angler who was on the venue and he was catching fish too so thing may be looking up. Cheers Kevin H |

Good angling Kev, well done.
Must admit I have not ventured up to the Kennet for a few weeks but been doing well on the Loddon so far this season, had heard Kennet was fishing badly. Let's hope this year will be more normal all round than last year.........

Hi...first post on the forum...been on a break from fishing for about ten years, but decided to join RDAA again...Fished Benyons on Tuesday evening with no
luck - although a few were coming out from the weir. Having not been to Benyons (Lower) for ages and surprised by how much it has changed with a number of
large willows gone or lying in the water.
Always used to fish meat on the hook over hemp but tried pellet on Tuesday - does the pellet work on the Kennet? Cheers |

Pellet has been known to produce odd fish on the Kennet!! You could do a lot worse than fish pellet 100% of the time. I do.

Welcome Custard
The pellet still works ............... just vary the way you fish it. Fear that them crayfish will munch your meat all too quickly though
