whilst messing around on the river the otherday trying to perfect my wallis cast, i realised i have to do a bit more reading on the subject or book a lesson with mr horse nipples whose pretty damn good at it.
i came across a article on purepiscator.com were it said that mr fwk wallis won a casting touranment by casting a 1 1/2 drachm 235 feet! i dont know what a drahcm is but 235 feet
wow!
i dont think i could cast 6 oz lead with a beach caster that far. this was in 1903 on a cane rod ect. i felt the strain after a few hours using modern day carbon.
i know theres beach casting tournaments still thriving but is there still a centre pin, float casting tournament in existence still?
i would love to see some of these casting wizards in action as im sure they exist and if not wouldnt it be a good idea to revive it as a close season event or as an extra on a bfw fish in?
how many of ya's can fling a drachm 235 feet or comfortably wallis cast 100 feet with ease?
p.s i do know you dont need to cast far to catch ect but it does look cool watching someone cast well and it would be smart to flick a lead across the trent with a pin like they did back then.
any tips welcome
cheers eric
