I fished the opposite bank last week, only one person on sheephills
Ive never seen the sheephills looking so clean, with all the bank left to grow naturally even the sheep look healthy,(probablybecause they haven't been eating Stella cans) the syndicate has made the place alot better for other angler, keep it up lads looks good.Has anybody seen the river today ? Cheers John |

PM for you Steve . Andy I don't know a huge amount about the Swale day ticket waters but I know you can get one for Fawdington , a good stretch run by
Helperby anglers ,tickets from the shop in Helperby , they also do a day ticket for a very short stretch behind the houses in Helperby itself . Also day
tickets at Cundall lodge and Cundall manor . I am getting a strange feeling of deja vu as I type this as I am sure I have given some info on this Q before !
Anyway I'm sure some Swale expert will come along and put you right . Good luck

Andy,
There are barbel in the River Hull, which is considerably closer to you than the Swale! Also the Derwent, which is also closer. Dr. Barbus lives out your way - he should know some good spots. R. |

Derwent ! You will put poor Andy off barbel fishing for life [ see Derwent thread ]. Stick to the Swale Andy there is plenty in there ..

What it is fella's is, I'm in the armed forces so never get home to Hull, when I do I fish the trent at Collingham but it can be a right circus and
after a couple of years its getting boring.
At work I fish he Bristol Avon, thats my local water but i'm happy to commute to somewhere within reach of Hull when home on leave next month,a mate suggested the Swale. Thanks for all the help so far,I'll see if this Dr Barbus can help with the River Hull, must say I've heard the odd rumour but its hardly known for barbel,as for the Derwent quite similar, although more reports again its not noted from what i've been told or as popular with the Barbel angler.. Cheers Andy |

Fished at Sheephills yesterday as a new member. Fished 6pm until 10pm. River was maybe 3 foot up but fell about 6inches while I was there. There was colour in
the water, a peaty stain rather than traditional floodwater. Managed one barbel around 5lb and one small chub.
