garlic spam again! |
Lead | |
|
I know this is a repeat subject but does anybody know of any stores that still sell the garlic spam? I have almost run out and after some experimentation I am
convinced this stuff is better than normal or self flavoured spam.

Blimey lucky i bought six tins of it from morrisons at the weekend, have to say when there is a bit of a flow or colour or Flood, (and going by the rain today
that could be sooner rather than later) to the Thames, that is one of my prefered baits.
It was this BIG

Just out of interest, how do you size the bit you are using. Do you cube it or just wrip a bit of so its looks ragged. I was thinking about flavouring some and
putting it in the freezer. About 1" cubes, would this be to small or to big.
cheers |

Cyprio, depends where you are fishing. The small Chub would murder a 1" cube on the BA!

On the Trent mate. I have some Lamprey flavour which I am doing well on with the pellet. I was going to try it on the meat. I might do the whole piece and hope
it absorbs it well. I can the choose the bait size on the day.

Cyprio
I use a quarter tin and rough it all over with the serated blade of an old Swiss Army knife. No other flavour needed I then sit on my hands as they fiddle with it, trying to get the angle right to fit in their mouths. Better still though, once I see an interest is being shown,I pick up the rod and feel for the take. It really does keep you on the edge of your seat Having said all that, it is my second rod with the centre pin, fished freelined down the inside, just the hook, usually a size 6, pulled all the way through. The downside is that rod can sit there sometimes for hours without a tremble, so patience is needed. My last double came after an 8 hour wait. The main rod is fished with an assortment of baits, upstream into the current. Join with us!

yeah I'd agree with Fred, it's taken some good fish for me, doubles in the barbel and 5lb+chub, it doesn't need flavour, but it does need trust and
perseverence. I have a carrier bag full of tins just for the right times. reckon it only works best when it's fresh.

I agree, fresh not defrosted, works for me too.

the annoyance is that considering it seems to work best when it'sm fresh you end up wasting thr remains of a can each time you open one. half size tine
would be benficial, but given the fact we're running on borrowed time with this bait we're never going to get more options with it.
