The level rose about 18 in between 7 a.m and 1 p.m with nice colour in the water. The rest of the week should be good if you can make it. This was the best of 4 barbel at exactly nine pounds. Fished it for 3 hours today and caught 2 barble one on halibut pellet the other on spicey meat. 6ld 4oz the other 5lb 80z. Not bad eh!!!!!! The river is a about 4ft upwith lots of colourwhich is IDEAL FOR THE RIVER SWALE

The river is well up at the moment and as soon as I have internet access at home (hopefully in the next wek) I will post regular river updates if you guys would find that usefull. I am looking forward to trying the Swale. Moved from Ripon and had moderate sucess on the Ure. I guess there are lots of chub in the river too? Is that the case? sal

Some say that if you release a captured chub into the swim you are fishing you won't see another one. Doesn't seem to be the case does it? I suppose you have tried different pegs. geoff

Had 4 barbel to 8lb 8 and lost what felt a bigger one ( whilst pouring out a coffee ), why does that always happen ?? im sure they can see you pouring and say right nows or chance !!! i only left as i was starving was going to get a sandwich from the shop in topcliffe but was shut !! plus i got soaked when the wind changed direction . Plenty of chub bites but i tend to leave them alone . cheers Ian
