I'm down in the area for a week soon and although i'm staying near the Teme I wanted a couple of days on the Wye and can't decide where to try thats new. Looking at stretches west of or around Hereford, but can only find the Red lion stretch and also Letton court, anyone got any info on Letton or any other good stretches in that area, will ask in a couple of tackle shops when I get down but I'm sure a few on here could point me to some good fishing in this area. Help really appreciated...

Dazza You could pop into Woodys tackle in Hereford he put me onto some fish back in February on a cold clear day. Very helpful chaps.....

Ken Yup, Will try different parts of the river next time out. A mans luck has to change sometime! I guess we can all help lady luck along the way by being procative and adaptable to conditions in front of us. Brian

dazza You could do a lot worse than the town stretch in Hereford, I used to live right by the river near the tennis courts, I've had some cracking sessions down there. It's owned by Hereford Angling Club but you can get day ticket from Woodys, if you want to get away from it all in a more picturesque enviroment you
could always try The Biblins at Symmonds Yat East, not sure whether Woody's does dt for that stretch but thtackle shop in Ross On Wye definitely does.

Howdi Steve, doin a bit of Carpin' at the mo, hooking a few and landing none!! Bloody nightmare. Will no doubt bump into you again on some lonely stretch
of the river, seen any more big cats? Over the pits tonight after work and praying the 'angling gods' are with me. Book sold out months ago, thanks for
your interest, has been fetching a bomb on ebay. All the best to you, Martin

I went to the tennis court stretch at hereford last monday and got bites all day. Dave at woody's told me to go there, £5 day ticket, had 7 on 12mm halibut
pellet with small halibut pellets in the feeder. Dave said that a chap caught 11 the day before me and I know of another bloke catching 9 to 9lb the day before
I was there. I caught mine just below the iron bridge, below the rapids, although I think Dave meant for me to go above the rapids, that's where the 9lb
one was caught against the wall under the walkway.

Beer festival in Hereford | ||
|
The beer festival at the weekend appears to be right next to the river (the rowing club?). I'm guessing it's part of the Hereford day ticket stretch.
Does anyone know the area well enough to know if I'd be able to take a rod along and still be sociable?
Cheers, Rich |

I've just noticed that everyone is saying to get day tickets for the tennis courts stretch from woody's, I was told just this week that sue's
tackle on Hinton road which is right by the leisure pool also does day tickets for that stretch. Have I been miss-informed?
Also parking in the leisure pool car park is £4 for the day, just thought this might be of some use to someone. dazza, I've only just realised where Letton court is which seems silly because I drive past it every week. I'd heard a lot about it on different forums but because I didn't know where it was then I hadn't yet found out about it, it's just one of those places that I've been putting on my to do list. Anyway, I fish qhite a lot at the toll bridge witney on wye, this is just up above Letton court and is a lovely stretch where I know Barbel reside. You can buy a day ticket at the house on the toll bridge for the stretch near the toll bridge. My mate has had Barbel there last season to 8lb. As you look at the toll bridge from the A438 side to the left of the bridge on your side is a deep hole, in this hole there are big pike,Barbel and chub, if the Barbel have spawned though which they probably have by now, they move towards the shallower water below the hole. Maybe this is of help to you.

What the hell is all this new advertising %*%! all over BFW?
I love this site because it is free from all the distracting, unimportant bull that contempory life is so full of! Now I can't even come on here with out being told i've won an Audi or that I should go and watch Sex in the City! Am I the only one frustrated by this? Luke |

Luke, to post the same rant on 2 different river threads while there is a post on the main board says it all. Whats the point in moaning? Brian

I blanked on the wye yesterday. I spent 6 hours perservering whilst debris came down river and stuck on the line making bite registration nigh on impossible,
if you don't put in the time though you don't catch I suppose. I just can't wait for the rain to cease and the river to drop, give it a day or two
then it should be spot on.
It was nice to see my first king fisher of the season and also a huge salmon jumped right in my swim. I wish it had picked up my bait! It must have been nearly a twenty. |

Oi Basher,
I have as much right to vent my frustration about the advertising as any one! Quote: to post the same rant on 2 different river threads while there is a post on the main board says it all. Whats the point in moaning? I have never posted on the main thread therefore was not even aware that the views were being shared. I also know lots of people from my area and further afield who I chat with regularly on both the Taff and the Wye threads! I wasn't talking to you you cheeky %@!$! so i'd appreciate it if you kept your advice to yourself! Luke |
