Yes i'll be fishing the Ure this year as with every year if your looking for a guest session let me know, i can put you on to a lovely stretch on the upper
reaches with barbel into double figures but it far from easy I'm affraid but the surrounding are an utter joy to behold

On the Ripon Angling book for me Andy which is right bank for about 2 miles a couple of miles upstream of Ripon. Barbel out numbered 10:1 by chub but great
fishing for lots of species.
What is your interest? |

Hi all,
Mooks if your local club begins with S then i wouldnt waste your time fishing the strech on the ure unless its pike your after as its like a Millpond , hardly any flow at all ,would be worth a shot if the river was up 3 or 4 feet. walked it the other week and wasnt impresed!
Good luck to you all for the coming season.! |

I fished the Newby Hall stretch quiet a bit last season and had some reasonable fish. Early season I found the majority of the fish were just below the weir,
then as the weather got colder they moved into the deeper water. Try rolling a big chunk of meat in the deeper glids just down from the weir (you will need
waders). If that doen't pick you a fish or two up move down stream of were the lock arm is and try a static bait with a pva bag.
If it is bright and sunny, it's well worth taking a spinning rod for the pike. Hope that helps. Tim |

Caster matey we were told by the club its well worth a trip for barbel but as its a good hours trip from here l guess it might not be worth it..
But as its like a millpond be hard going... Then again after all the rain we have had yesterday it might be spot on now ... |

Afternoon All,
I managed to get a few hours under my belt last night just outside Bishop Monkton and managed my first barbel of the season - 5lbs 6oz. Not the biggest but fought like a much bigger fish and was great to catch a barbel from a stretch that don't hold them in numbers. I was fishing PVA bags with two small pellets glued to a hair. All the best, Tim |

Pikehunter, you may or may not appreciate this recent post in the ribble thread- I changed the river name.
'When you pull a beautiful woman do you go looking for her last partner to ask what her preferences are? No you damn well have fun finding out. The ure is a beautiful woman, only she won't whinge when you want to show her your tackle four times a week' geoff

Mook,
It would be nice to hear if it is any good & with a lot of water it maybe as there are a few nice looking holes , but it will take a few feet to get some flow going. I would definatly give Riverwatch a ring to save a wasted Journey, you probably know the number but if not its 09066197722. Good luck Mooks & let me know!
