I have read many of the responses that many of you have written. I agree whole heartedly about those that bivvy out and have mutiple rods are best suited to
commercial carp waters. I do make an effort to clear my rubbish and the rubbish that I find around me. I am disgusted by how many anglers on the river treat it
as a dumping ground. How would they feel is this was there back garden?
I have real passion for angling and barbel angling especially. As most of you know barbel are mainly caught after darkness falls, so why is there a ban on
night fishing on the Ribble? I believe good baliffing by the club would help stop anglers wrecking the enviroment here. But I also believe the club could
review its rules regarding night fishing as long as the anglers using the river are responsible. The minority can spoil it for the majority.

it often surprises me when people say most barbel are caught after dark. I know its a common theory and to some people may be true, but my personal experiences
suggest otherwise. I have caught loads of barbel during daylight and usually find things slow down when it gets dark.
I would agree that chub feed better after dark but not barbel. |

I think barbel change their feeding habits at different times so there is no real set rule for when they decide to take your bait but more often than not night
fishing is more productive.
I fished yesterday from 3pm to 1 am and never had a sausage,neither did my mate.The person asking if other people are finding it slow going the answer is definitely.I regularly walk the stretch I fish with the dog and only the odd fish is coming out.I am not sure what is going on.Do fish still feed the same when they are spawning?If not then perhaps they are just spawning later than normal. |

hi lads,
regarding fishing into dark its all about confidence!over the last few years ive always said that they switch on after dark and ive caught 99% of my fish just into dark the 1st couple of hours.saying that i used to go up 4pm ish to get my swim and put a bed of bait in and in my head i was doing this for fishing after dark.this season ive not fished into dark and have had 9 barbel in 3 sessions including 1 blank,an old head on the ribble told me this time of year its all about( location) just because youve had barbel from a swim in the past doesnt mean theyll be there early in the year.they'll more than likely be shoaled up a bit or not to far from there spawning ground or the water below the shallows. tightlines charlie |

Fished 11.30am to 3.45pm today, not the best conditions, bright, warm, but the river did have a bit of colour, had 2 twitches on paste but nothing until 3.30
when I had a wrap around and a very fit 7 pounder came to the net.. taken on a hali pellet..
I did manage to clear the bank of...... 1 x mars bar wrapper, 1 x crisp packet, 1 x sandwich wrapper,about 10 yards of nylon, 2 paper hankies...2 x cellophane cigar wrappers, misc sweet papers. I did draw the line at clearing up somebodys toilet paper and !@$@... literally. 
If the person who left the above on the upper Elston stretch is reading this, you should be b%&*^"y ashamed of yourself. |

Fished yesterday 6am til 2pm. Had a nice Chub and 2 Barbel around the 6 pound mark. Got sunburnt to feck and now resemble a cooked lobster.

Have not fished Elston this year. Wont be doing either. Reason, I have read reports of rubbish/litter problem. I cleared up sackfulls of +*$% last season and
dont intend to do it again. It appears that I have finally thrown the rattle out about this one and shall not join the club again. The dirty %+%*+!!! can have
this stretch for me. They have won.
This issue almost makes me so ashamed that I feel like hanging up my rods. I am due prince albert card this year, Hopefully this will bring improvements. |

the PA stretches are lots better than whats being described above ,
bar one area the locals tend to think is their own , thats more or less the only place |

cant really comment on the other clubs on the ribble , but i have seen both day ticket stretches and the PA , and i know which i would rather fish rik20 ,
99.9% of PA members respect the area and take all their rubbish away with them , unlike the 'non members' that think its fine to come along and fish
for free , light fires and leave their garbage on the banks

It's not the full length at Elston just the Bivvy bit or more precisely near the cars , It's a shame because it's a quality stretch of water

I suppose youre all right really. There will always be a knobhead in any club, on any piece of water, or in any sport for that matter. I just got sick and
tired with it cos I cant walk past a pile of rubbish without picking it up. Im going to concentrate more on the Dane this season cos the long walk to the
stretch I fish seems to put many off... touch wood anyway.
