I have to agree with you Paul, it all boils down to what you like to look at I suppose, I use all Peregrines which are built especially for me, I choose not to
have all the extras, so to speak, because I am one of those that believes that a rod has to serve the purpose it was built for.
I have nothing against rods with bits of wood on them although I have often wondered what would happen if the varnish got scratched and water got to the wood we all know what happens when wood gets wet. I like the look of rods with fancy whipping it's clever how it's done, but it's not for me! One other point whilst my brain is in gear, years ago we managed with Mk4's either Carp or Avon's the Mk4 Carp would and anything that swam. So why is it that we now use 1.75 and over for Barbel, I have landed Kennet Barbel to over twelve on a 1lbs test Avon and that was in fast water, I myself seem to have fallen in to the trap. (in all the years I have been posting on BFW this is the longest post I have ever submitted)
