No rain forecast for the weekend.
Just spoke to a mate whose about a mile 4 or 5 miles upstream from pershore at the moment and it's pretty clear and at the same sort of level it's been at since opening night. ATB Never give up - There's always tomorrow! |

Guys,
I only ask as I managed to get it spectaculary wrong once on another venue where I took up barbel gear and everyone was catching fish via trotting maggots on float rods. Any help would be appreciated and treated with the strictest of confidence if you decide to PM me instead. Thanks, Paul |

pj martin, i have fished it a couple of times in summer and a couple in winter. At this time of year i personally wouldn't take the float gear. Fish
below the weir, the peg on the actual weir is good but the river is quick in places and clear but take some heavy leads/feeders as the first time i went my
leads were not heavy enough and it was hard to distinguish bites as the tip was constantly bobbing. it wrecked it for me but when i went the next time with
heavier gear and gripper leads i had a cracking day. Be warned that it gets busy there, even in the week so get there early. Bait wise i would stick to the
norms pellets, boilies,l meat but also some hemp corn maybe worms casters etc. Also don't rely on what you hear off the old boy owner, he's a bit of a
b******t artist. I'm stil a bit of a novice though but i hope this helps. i might be down wednesday. Tight lines.

1st Barbel in 2 seasons | ||

Living in Ipswich means there's not much access to Barbel Rivers to say the least. I have relatives in Gloucestershire and sometimes take the opportunity
to fish your river. Last season I could only manage a couple of sessions and the river was out of sorts (I'm sure you all remember).
Managed a beauty on Friday. All 12lb 7oz of her and her mate of 9lb in the same session. You guys don't realise how lucky it is to have decent access to Barbel fishing like this. Had some cracking Chub that fought like mad and thought they were Barbel until I got them to the net. My mate caught a Bream of 1lb and a half and it scrapped all the way to the net, even pulling the drag! Picture of her below. When you put the feed out do you put steroids in it?

...just in case you thought I was totally mad I meant the picture below was of a Barbel not the Bream.

Hi all,
Had a good session this aft/evening at Pershore. Had 3 barbs between 4-6.6lb, lost 3 and had some geat chub to finish with 40lb ish, all on the stick float. Great session, still not quite sure about the low and clear reports. At Pershore its still an inch or two on and still has a bit of colour in it. Its absolutley perfect. Doesn't look like you are suffering too much higher up from the reports though, so maybe they are not too bothered yet. ATB Tom. |

First Double of the Season and New PB for me! | ||
|
Hi All,
Just got back in after a very short evening session on the river. As you can see from the picture (or maybe not lol) I am well happy. Barb of 12lb 3oz, what a beauty. Interestingly it was very hollow as well - It'd be interesting what it weighs in the early part of next year! Oh, Happy Days! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
