IMO - Grey's all day long, as mentioned before, the "no quibble" lifetime guarantee, gives total confidence in the product. A1

I've always found the Fox barbel plus to be good rods, especially if your budget is under £100.
That said, job for tomorrow is going and ordering my Torrix! |

Have a look at the Nash/Dean Macey specimen tri tip rod, as the name suggests, the rod consists of a butt section and three tops, a 1.5lb tc avon top, a 1.75lb
tc avon top and a 1.5lbtc quiver top which comes with a range of carbon and glass quiver tips. Three rods in one, and has handled everything I've asked of
it up to now. Price is around £90, but if you look around you can get them for nearer £80. It all depends what you have to spend, as with most things in life,
you get what you pay for.

The best rods that I have ever used were the Fox kevlar barbel rods, only very slightly ahead of the wychwood rapier, however I dont think that you can get
either brand new any more, you certainly cant get the fox one as it went out of production a few years ago.
maybe have a look on the classifieds here or on flea bay |

Got two of the 1.5lb test curve Shimano Nexaves and bought a 1.75lb secondhand. I can't fault them for the price. Also when I've clumsily snapped a
couple of tips roving around they are reasonable to replace. Great rods at god prices.

Shimano rods, got a pair of 2lb Hyperloop BX fish play action rods which i got at the end of last season. Used them on the Trent where they cast 8 ounces
comfortable 3/4 the way acroos. Nice action too and the tip does not fold over at the top which happens to alot of barbel rods when fully loaded. Not caught
many barbel on them, but so far so good and very pleased with them at £55.00ea. I'll get a better feel for their performance when I've caught more
barbel

Dont blame u if u wanna stick with shimano, like bob says if its trent or a similar river then 2lb hyperloop is a good heavy duty rod.
Iv got a beast master which is better for your small or medium rivers.mMine was won on a raffle donated by steve ringer(match angler) after using it for bagging waggler for carp.So it can cast some weight at distance to.Tom |
