Many thanks everyone for all the congratulations - I have read them all to Thomas. Special thanks to Andy for being kind enough to put it on the home page.
I have been taking him fishing since he was 3 years old and he's fishing mad. Tried to get him his first barbel last year but he wasn't quite strong enough to handle the rod when he had a fish on. Last saturday after dragging him out of bed at 3am (he didn't complain at all) he hooked a barbel 5 minutes after his first cast and played it very well (although his very anxious dad was giving him constant advice and nearly had a nervous breakdown!). 15 minutes later he had another bigger one of 7-10. He's really chuffed but his dad is over the moon. Only trouble is
he now thinks catching barbel is a piece of cake and he'll get one every cast - he has a lot to learn.
Taking him again this weekend, but hope he doesn't show me up too much!

Thomas, well done again young man, I must admit I didn't think you would do it after you lost the carp in May, and blamed me!!!
Anyhow, if you need any more advice, you know what a waste of space your dad is, don't forget Uncle Crooky is only a couple of swims away and really enjoys undoing your tangles.......... I will never replace Dad the faithful Gillie and photographer though. P.S. Save me a doughnut on Saturday.................

help at all (undoing tangles, removing hooks from body parts, opening crisp packets, etc) that Uncle Crooky would love to help.
