Ended up with 8 large elips pellets superglued onto hair to try and avoid the bream but just ended up catching bigger bream!!
Anyone else noticed the bream seem to be really on the feed at the moment?

they do if you offer them pellet.
I wont use pellets on the lower now (unless its really cold), as the bogie's are just a nightmare. Steve |

After 12 years of no Fishing decided to take up again. Spent a small fortune on updating my kit. So looking forward to the start of the season been to a couple of small lakes to test my kit but there is only 1 fish for me the Barbel on a fast river. To my horror my girlfriend books a holiday to Spain on the 17th June (women have no clue about the 16th June But don't tell her that). Traveled all the way from Conwy in the North Wales to fish Monkmoor to my horror the tackle shop had gone by Morrioisons. Not put off by this cause I was going to fish Meat over bed of Hemp and I remembered that you could get a day ticket for Monkmoor from the bailiff. As I pulled into the road and down the little path I had done 12 years ago to my horror there was a gate and it was locked But on the gate was a sign shropshire angling federation. And my nightmare hit me NO NIGHT FISHING so parked the car up near the island swims and walked down the river pass the ford to my old spots by the underpass. My heart was broken unable to fish at night with my girlfriends son with me we returned back to the car and traveled back 180 mile round trip to view a river. As I am not a local and unable find any information on clubs and free stretches of the river to fish at night if some one could point me in the right directions you make a broken man happy.

I fished a bit further down and had nothing but eels. A match also struggled near where I was.
Id go to the teme if I were you, but diglis might be worth a bash |

First of all welcome to BFW. Have to say I feel for you fella.
Difficult for me to suggest anywhere free that is suitable for nightfishing - normally need a club or syndicate for that. BAA control lots of the Severn valley water, and have night tickets available for some stretches - here's a link to their website : http://www.baa.uk.com/home/default.aspx I'm confident others on here will be able to provide you with more info. If you require any further specific info then feel free to PM me. ATB Mike |

Hi hitman1969 & as mike says welcome to the bfw site,
Would also like to add apart from BAA waters which i think you can't go wrong unless you can get in & afford a prince albert membership, Look at the official E.A. web site as it does show you local waters you can fish hope this helps & tight lines for the future buddy. PS. I do feel for you as well as it's happened to me. |

Hi and welcome to the site.
As Bristoltraveller says, Prince Albert (www.paas.co.uk) has miles of rivers, but there is a bit of a waiting list (2 years the last I heared) before you get on. Another club that may interest is Lymm Angling club (http://lymmanglersclub.com ). They have stretches of the Severn at Atcham, Abermule, Llandrinio and Bicton, along with the Vyrynwy (Llandrinio), the Dee (Farnham), the Dane (Midllewich, Holmes Chapel and Congleton) and the Bollin (near Lymm), all of which hold barbel and night fishing is allowed with a special permit (£35). Hope this helps. |

Just got back from a long weekend fishing the stanley stretch in Highley. Managed 10 barbel biggest being around the 6lb mark, had a few little ones about
1/2lb lovely fish and still give the rod a good tug!! Also had a few chub but the surprise catch was a nice roach of about 6oz which took a 14mm halibut pellet
on a size 10 hook, greedy little bugger. Others in the party caught too the best score was 15 barbel.
Thanks for the info Warren. Cheers, Phil. |
