I know the lady in question Bruce ( not personally
) but with all them
greenhouses on the far bank
you would think that she would know better.
To be fare she is down there most nights. Sometimes alone sometimes with hubby. The fish must be well used to the Lab, Spaniel and Russel hurling themselves in.
I like it when them little Red Grouse come flying in from the far bank usually in September. They dont actually see you till the last minute. Then, they do litterally **** themselves , which adds a bit more groundbait to the swim.

Any tips or suggestions please. My mate and I fished Atcham today and tried allsorts, fast water, creases, pellet, boilies etc. Not a touch from the Barbel or
even the Chub between us. We travel from Manchester once or twice per season and would like to make the trips count. We fish the Dane and Ribble mostly with
some good results. You can say were just @+#+ if u want but it seems odd. I read about cold water from welsh dams, spawning and water abstraction etc affecting
fishing. Does anyone know about this?. The water doesnt look like I remember it as a kid. Or am I just searching for excuses?. Cheers.

Jeffro, If you only travel here once or twice a year maybe you should have stayed at home until the reports were much better. If you look at the previous posts
you can see that its very hard going and even some of the seasoned anglers are struggling to pull a Barbel out. When its times like this is easy to blame
yourself and start trying all different baits and different swims thinking you must be doing something wrong, but sometimes, the fish are just not on the feed.

Anyone been on the Lower? | ||
|
Me and a mate were planning on fishing the Lower on a boat. Catching Barbel on it would be heaven but be happy just catching. We've done a fair bit of this
type of fishing on the Thames in the past. You get to some really good inaccessible swims....weirs even so you don't upset any bank anglers..
Anyone know how the lower is fishing? |

Atcham has never been one of me best venues too, i've always struggled there meself, i come away from there asking the same question "have i used the right bait" "have i used the right technique" .... or am i just plain old simple c**p... All i can suggest is that if your tavelling a distance to get to Atcham..... you might as well go the extra 18 mile and head around the Bridgnorth area... ( me personly, i have always had better results around there) .. Hope that helps....... Regards. |

Hard Work | ||
|
Just back from a week at the Unicorn in Hampton Loade, very hard this week, the place was packed out and the fishing was slow to say the least. Our party of 8
managed just 5 fish all week, still enjoyed the week though, I got to meet some lads from this site. Bristoltraveller (Justin and his lovely wife,
Manchestertraveller (Dave), Willow and Pete the Meat and his missis. Justin worked hard for his fish, Willow caught a nice bream but like me didn't manage
a barbel and Pete caught a couple and kept us entertained us all week. Dave, managed to catch more fish than most of the anglers put together. He'd had at
least 16 when we left. Top bloke and good angler. Although Dave and Justin did catch there's on pellet, most anglers who were catching were on hemp and
caster stick floating in the shallow fast water. Doesn't help when both the tackle shops had run out of casters every-time we went there. A big thanks must
go to the chap that opened the gates and let some nice cold water through on the 15th. He single handily managed to ruin about 1,000 anglers week.
