Well just got back from Collingham hoping to have a fantastic 1st day of the season... After sitting all night without a bite my 1st one came at 10am resulting
in a small barbel abt 2n arf.
fished till 7pm with nothing else... Tomas65 managed a small skimmer and 2 other shiny things lol not sure if bleak.. are they in there ????. A couple of commons caught to the right of us n 2 or 3 barbel and i think a couple to the left... Things was very slow... ...Lookin at it u think fcuk this is perfect.. then a massive hail storm killed it abt abt 6pm all that ice cold water,,, Never seen anything like it.. brilliant sunshine then bang. thunder, 10mm hail bloody hurt an all...abt 20 mins solid.... anyway not disheartened i will return lol...

Gonna get my first session of the new season in on either Monday or Tuesday(possibly both, work permitting).
Haven't decided 100% on the venue yet but narrowing it down rather rapidly. The banks should have calmed down a little after the opening weeks mad rush. Roll on Monday.
Cheers,

Fished around the Girton area last night for the first session of this season.
Between my mate and myself we managed to open this seasons account with 5 fish: 3 Barbel; 5lb 2oz; 5lb 3oz & 6lb 1 Bream; 5lb 9oz 1 Chub; 1 & half lb The Barbel weren't massive by some standards but they were "fit as a butchers dog" and gave a good account of themselves. My mate lost a Barbel at the net that was considerably bigger than the 3 that we landed, he was a bit dissappointed but as he said we'd had a good start to a new season. Roll on the next session. Forgot to say, I unfortunately damaged on of the legs on my JRC pod, does anyone know how I can contact JRC direct please. Just found a contact number for JRC and given them a bell, spoke to a guy called Paul Smith. I explained about the damage to the leg and without any question he took my name and address and is putting a replacement leg in the post free of charge. Well done JRC and thank you very much.
Cheers,
Billy

Hi'a fellas, just had a 3 day stint at collingham, decided not to fish the weir,it tends to get a bit like Butlins,so i went further down on peg 27 , had a
crackin session 7 barbs best was 9lb ,plenty of chub n bream, and as a suprize a eel of around 4lb, very rare to see,but a welcome one even tho it rapped its
way up my arm.The weir was choker n nobody seemed to be catching,i'm back again tomorrow same peg i hope.I'll report to you all again on friday night
when i get back.
