Started to fish on the stroke of Midnight (16th) for 24 hours, NO Barbel (%^$£$)...... But a 6 1/2 bream (new PB) + 2 of similar size and a number of chub, 2 of which were 5lb clonckers....... A mate had 2 x Barbs 7 1/2lb and 9lb.... A bit P"^%ed off that a walker said people had been fishing the Beeston area for like 8 weeks in some numbers he reckoned. Ads, did you actually catch any Barbs yourself? Mark. |

Chubmeister - Went for a look-see at Beeston on Sunday with the thought i'd be fishing there on the 16th but on the Beeston side of the river there is
probably only 6 swims that are fishable as NAA haven't been chopping back trees/ bushes etc. The other side of the river looks fishable, plenty of pegs
that look well trodden so no doubt there is some truth that people have been fishing there during the close season.

Fished d/s of Stoke wier opening night and had 1 barbel of 9lb 3oz and a few missed bites, plenty of "other fish" coming out, but not heard of to
many of our friends with whiskers paying a visit to the bank {other than the rivers wier pools}

fished 16th for 2 chub!! mate had a 12lb mirror!
fished today had 6 barbel 7lb,7lb12oz,5.14oz,8lb,8lb9oz and a 12lb8oz! all on 18mm pellet! |

Keith, Fished East Bridgeford on the opening night and only caught a chub. I've never seen so many people down there, i counted 9 all fishing 2 rods so there was a lot of pressure but no doubt numbers will dwindle in the coming weeks. Didn't see any barbel caught only chub and the odd bream. I'm hopefully down there again tomorrow night for a few hours so hopefully will get amongst them. |

Fished opening day evening for one 5-6lb bream down at pierpont. Got bitten by a fewmozzies and now have an ankle the size of my thigh. Always find opening day
a bit of a let down after the long close season. Mind someone had been fishing the peg all day and god knows how much bait he'd put in.
Then last night just (before the storm blew ) caught a 5lb+ Chub and a 8-9lb Barbel. Wow these Trent fish fight hard ! All on Elipse pellet (superglued to the hair seems to work better than the bands) dipped in Nodd oil for extra attraction All from the first few pegs below the canoe course. Seen up to 5 cars parked , seems to be popular until evening time when they all pack up (just as the fish start feeding). A guy fishing opposite on the Long Eaton AC stretch had been there all week. Was catching chub mostly, the odd 6lb barbel and a 15lb carp. Seemed to think the barbel were probably still spawning. Hilarious watching him throw himself down the 25ft bank every time a chub has a nibble. Tight lines for the coming week. Rich |

First session of the season last night.
River very clear - thought Wednesdays rain would have coloured it up a little but don't think much of it made the river. Had 2 out 8.8 and 10.2 Regards Richard

fished yesterday,had another 6 out...6lb,7.10lb,8.8lb,9.5lb,10.2lb and a 10.12lb,lost 2 as well!! back down tomorrow to try a different swim!

I only managed two last night up "near A1 Pits, Muskham" on our club book. First one went 10lb 10oz after waiting fours hours! Second one made me wait another three hours, but at 10lb 8 oz it was worth it! Cheers Roger |

Fished for 5 hours last night for 5 barbel averaging 6lb, all the fish came just as dusk fell in a crazy 1 hour frenzy! Lost 2, 1 to a hook pull (blunted hook)
and one to an unknown snag. Good to feel the power of these fish again, I'll be back next Friday for another session.

Caught a 9lb 8oz barb last night, went for a couple of hours into dark. I know that it is solstice time but the light really stayed a lot later than I thought
it would....
River levels are still very low, could really do with a foot on I think, has anyone been fishing any fast water stretches? weir run offs etc? I have heard people say below Caythorpe before, I don't understand what this means, the Trent doesn't seem to be there at all??

tried the new peg! and blanked! not even a sniff! rain set in,looks set for the day,so i called it a day around 10am! nice result roger! think we could do with
alot more rain,rivers looking low,and gin clear! back work on monday,so i bet the conditions will be spot on!

The Caythorpe people are referring to is a little village halfway between Gunthorpe and Hoveringham.

hi folks right 3 of us went down to the pits around 7.30pm thursday and fished the night directly under the bridge ashley had 4 bream 1 chub but there were
non of our whiskered freinds to be seen me and pete just had 1 bream a piece so i guess you could say we were plagued by the snotty fellas all night but the 1
i got was a fair size around 8lb.First thing friday we moved further up we fished here all day and night to petes delight as he had 4 barbel.7.15lb 6.5lb 7.3lb
7.8lb through the day not a sniff through the night (verry unusual) at this point there was 4 of us after the arrival of phil the mad geordie ( if your
reading this phil say hi to purple penetrator)we all fished 2 rods a piece and not even 1 of us had a run all night as soon as sun rose jammy pete bagged
another 7lb not bad for first session of season never done so well through the day at the pits as its usually after dusk things get lively cheers for reading
