Managed 6 hours this morning/afternoon. Very weedy/low/clear. Managed to convert all of two bites into two Barbel, first approx 4 1/2 lb, second approx just under 6 lb. Seems like every man and his dog was on for the first time today, only bumped into one other familiar face! How did everyone else do?

Posts: 312 (16/06/08 21:38) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Fished Ribchester area 0010 am to 0900 am, river low, clear and loads of margin weed, only the two fish, both about 2.00am, two barbs one 8lb 8oz, and one 10lb.7oz, both in top condition, both swam off strongly on release.Left well satisfied with my first 2008 trip. As I was leaving the day shift arrived. The river certainly needs a bit of rain to liven it up. Anyody know who controls the left bank downstream from the De Tabley Arms ? I noticed as I was driving home that since the pub has been up for sale the bank has been ignored and is becoming overgrown. Dave.

I went trotting on the Goyt tonight and caught 3 Chub, one of which still had eggs coming out its vent. Chubbster, you're mostly correct, sometimes the Ribble is a lady, other times she can be a right +*#@!! Still haven't worked out her PMT cycle yet. Woody

I have been soaking pellets for a week in chilly oil seemd to work,river need some rain now Ribchester is that a day ticket ???????? in work today and never got in untill 3am zzzzzzzz

Posts: 830 (17/06/08 19:15) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	i had a change of plan after i saw the cold night forecast , so arrived at 4am , it was a bit chilly ! as has allready been mentioned , its in desperate need of some water , the weed caused me problems all through the session , big clumps of blanket weed combined with the light green cabbage type stuff , i must have dragged 10 kg of the stuff out ! i managed to bag 4 chub , the 1st being a 5+ , and 2 barbel , around the 5lb mark it never seems to live upto the expectation though does it ? days of preparation , weeks of anticipation and some blank trotting is an option though for those desperate to get back on , i dont think presentation will be as effected rain is forecast over the next few days , but i dont think it will be enough

Posts: 2 (17/06/08 21:23) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	sounds like the river is a bit out of sorts... but hey cant have it all our own way.down on thursday for a few days and cant wait. cant pick and choose conditions when you live in edinburgh, but its all a learning curve got my PAAS ticket through , so looking forward to checking the new stretches out,, can hope for a bit rain(flush it out a bit) but it is always good to see the river low for features for the future trips when conditions are better cheers malky

Also has this rain done the trick as regards the weed? Hoping to get out Friday if i can bunk off work. Davidcowhiq, if you want to know where the swims are, walk the banks of the river, there are a few day ticket stretches, or failing that join one of the clubs that controll parts of the river. It came out from the Barrell swim near to Ribchester Town Centre. Simply go to Ribchester and walk upstream until you see a barrel in the water about 1/3 the way accross. Fish just behind the barrel using worms soaked in chilli oil. It isalways caught from there and on that bait. Let us know how you get on.
