Did anyone enjoy a good night last night on the magical 16th? Who Caught and who didn't?? Where did you Catch where did you Fail?
Is it just me or has this season not been met with the same optomism as last season?
Look forward to hearing from you all, wish I was there.

Wouldn't say it was a good night, but it wasn't a total washout the only bite of my evening resulting in a nice proportioned barbel weighing just over
9lb.

Just the two fish.... one 8 1/2 lb, and one 10.7oz, the river was low and clear, didnt bode well for a good opening night, but I am quite satisfied, could have
been a lot worse. I did get buzzed by a few off course bats, which made for an interesting night, also saw a Heron, hares, dicks, swans, oh, and a shooting
star with a red tail.

For the first time for several years I did the midnight kick-off this year.
Couldn't wait at home any longer, so got to the river at 8:30pm and was surprised to find 2 other anglers who had aready been there since 5pm. 30 minute to hack my way through the jungle and set up, followed by the longest 3 hours of my life. 
Rod wacked round with no warning at 00:45 - 4lber. Chuffed to bits! 
Another at 1:30 - 6lbs. Nothing for the rest of the day despite walking miles and trying lots of different swims until 5pm when I had an 8lber that fought like a tiger and which was in perfect condition. Went home soon after that because I couldn't stay awake any longer  .
All in all a cracking start to the new season. Gavin |

A 10lber for me...except it wasn't a barbel but a carp from the river Thames. My first river carp. 8lb barbel to my mate.
