Ludlow Tackle sell day tickets for a stretch of the Teme at Wooferton, you can drive right up to the river. Plenty of Barbel. I think you'll get buckshot
fishing at the mill.

Rolling meat | ||

Anyone do much "rolling meat" on the Teme?? It seems the perfect river for it and I'll be having a crack at it this summer. Anyone else got some
experience of doing this? I'm going to be fishing the BAA stretches mainly.

Hi folk, Best of luck to everyone fishing the lovely Teme this season! Looking forward to fishing one of the upper BAA stretches Monday morning. It looked
great a week ago; just hope the cooler weather doesn't put them off. Rolling meat, Chris... I've only tried it a bit, but found it very successful, but
more so for chub than barbel. I't might be sacrilege to say so, but I think the chub are a bit smarter, and you can fish a ledgered bait and they won't
touch it, but run a piece of meat through and they fall for it! Good thing about rolling meat is it keeps you moving about, whereas if you're ledgering
inertia sets in and you stay put even when you know you ought to move on (or that's me, anyway - idle!) Mel

H all, did some more peg clearing today and cant believe how much the river has dropped in the past couple of days. Had a ride down the river first thing and
noticed one or two that could't stand the wait for the 16th any longer, lucky for them I am on leave. Best of luck to all those being patient, Iv'e got
my swim picked out. Bill

Good luck to everyone. I'm going to be making my maiden voyage tomorrow to the teme. Just a quick question, as i have noticed the river is very low, it has got me wondering to people use bait droppers on the teme or does it make too much of a disturbance? Just wondered causee i was setting up my rods last night and as i am going to be roving i'm trying to cut tackle down. I think i am just taking one rod as well. Anyone got any insight into this? i assume that feeders will make too much noise too so shall i just stick to my one rod with a running rig on? cheers all and tight lines for everyone out on the river tomoz. |

Neil, hope this situation gets sorted...
I was at Broadwas first thing rolling meat. Beautiful morning, I arrived at dawn to a full car park and made my way to the top of the stretch. One bite, lost one fish who dived into a set of underwater roots when I thought the swim was snag free. River very low. Back out this afternoon on the Lower 7 |

Hiy'all.. had a bream (5+) first cast, then a barbel (5/0) second cast. Great start but nothing after that from 5 swims. Packed up at 2 and drove over to
Eardiston to walk banks. Car park was full (as was Eastam), spoke to 9 anglers.. not a bite between them.
Re. rolling meat. I agree with Hydrepsycho |

Managed a few hours from dawn 'til 8 this morning before work - not a bite! Not disheartened though - beautiful morning, and great to be back out. Just
wished I'd taken another jumper - pretty chilly for June!
Saw a kingfisher, and a Merganser (sawbill duck) with 6 young ones - never seen these on the Teme before, although they are generally supposed to be getting more common in rivers. I agree with whoever mentioned weed earlier - there does seem to be more this year. Interesting comparison to last year's 'opening day': This morning I was sitting on the spot I was casting into last year (much greater success last year!) - level must be 6ft lower Hope those still out there today are catching a few. Did a couple of stretches on the baa this morning, the banks are so overgrown its untrue, lots of anglers parked at cotteridge so give that a miss for a week
or two, did more walking than fishing really but did try half a dozen pegs for the usual 15 - 20 minutes, no sign of any interest, only spotted two or three
barbel all day and they did not seem that food was high on their agenda today, give it a week or so to calm down, i think they will be feeding late on to mop
up all that free bait which has gone in today, ENJOY!

...6lb 12oz, in perfect condition and showing it's lovely summer colours. Went off downstream like a rocket. A very pleasant start to the season which came
with another of sub 5lb.

Had a great opening day with "Will Catch", although we were Chubbed out to a degree with about a dozen 2 to 3 and a half pounds. We had 6 Barbel, all
fin perfect Will the largest at 7.12 and mine about 5, with thanks to Teme Severn pellets...they went beserk for them.We spent as much time watching them as
catching them until they tore up the silt. Still early days, River is low and it might need a freshener.probably when we start a 7 dayer on the lower Teme, it
will probably throw it at us.Told the wives we have to stay down because of our Carbon footrpint..using all that deisel to drive back!!

Teme croc sighted! | ||

Blanked for barbel opening day afternoon, had a nice chub though. Had to spend quite some time with a machete clearing two 30 yard paths through 6 foot high
nettles in order to get to the river. Found evidence of large reptilian life in the nettles.....watch out for the rest of him!

Had a 6.8 first cast, followed by a bream (~4.5) 2nd cast. Nothing then til 2pm and fourth swim... I was doing my usual superstitious 'count to 60 before
reeling in and moving swim' bit, and bang on the count of sixty I had a slight pull, which resulted in a barbel of 7.2! Its never worked before!

Andrew, that must have been the one that broke me last season. I think I will ditch the Powerpro and go for stainless traces!!!!
A mixed day on the upper beats with Barbel, Bream Chub, Trout and Carp being caught, best results were after 8 pm. Best Chub was 5 1/2 lb, best barbel was 8lb. Wes had a few hours in the evening with a mate on the Top stretch and had 4 Chub 3 Bream and 1 Barbel and lost one with a hook pull. Temevalley |

Had a short session(10am-3pm)and tried several swims but no interest from the barbs!
Is it better to fish early/late on this stretch? |
