this is getting interesting , some of the ego's on this site are of enormous dimensions , they must have been fed on pellets and bollies for years.
Personally I would not give much creedence to fish that are taken from overfished aquariums unfortunately most of us dont have much option, good luck with the wild fish ! |

Blimey. I don't recall calling anyone a liar or anything or stupid or anything of the sort. Night loners original post struck me as being provocative in a
pretty light hearted kind of way and I responded in what I intended to be a similar manor. I apologise if I've upset anyone. Anyway this whole thing has
gone a bit over the top I feel. I'm really not that bothered so I'm getting outta this thread. Have fun!
Derek. This is for you -

Derek, just who is Barbletastic trying to impress? I don't claim to read each & every bfw thread (probably unlike yourself) but from what I have read I don't get the impression that he is trying to impress anyone........ unlike yourself. From many of your posts you would have us believe that you are the Hampshire Avon's pioneering Barbel god, however when asked are reluctant to disclose what results you base these stories on. I would hazzard a guess and say that if you landed 20 Barbel this coming season from the Avon it would probably be at least 10 more than last season, not many for someone in your position, and far less than I and many others catch given far less free angling time on rivers equal in difficulty to the Hants Avon. How many times have I now read that you have landed a huge Chub.... possibly the largest ever from the Avon, and like every good anglers tale it grows ever bigger in your mind untill recently when you even posted that it was possibly a national record. A good angler would have gone to collect or sent someone to collect a camera, that way you could have given your tale some credibility, just like Barbeltastic does with the features that he writes, and so without that picture Derek it is nothing more than an anglers tale.

Night loner - I'm sure that Chris can stand up for himself and his contributions to this site are very valuable. I'll say this - continue in your
present mode of posting and you won't be on this site very long.

thanks john , im not a bad lad really am i ? have a good one tommorow mate , watch out for the banks falling in again (private joke we were on the river when

The Barbel we have in this country are European Barbel which were landlocked when we split from mainland Europe many years ago. So the only rivers that
naturally contain them are therefore easterly flowing as these rivers were once tributaries of the Rhine ( I think )
In Great Britain, native only to the drainage areas of seven eastern rivers: the Yorkshire Ouse, Trent, Wharfe, Aire, Swale, Great Ouse, and Thames introduced into the Ribble, Mersey, Dee, Severn (which includes the Teme), Wye, Avon (including Stiur and Rainsgate), Wear, Tees, and Medwat rivers.
