Anyone have any experience of the Halo P Line? Just bought a couple of spools and wondered if I did the right thing. At £40 a pop, it ain't cheap!! I
know to use the Palomar knot, but anyone got any horror stories to warn me about? Don't want to lose the fish of a lifetime cause I nawsed things up by
using the wrong line!!

A mate of mine had a horror story regarding the ESP crystal in 12lb. Parted like cotton in very normal conditions whilst a carp was attached.
Line, as most tackle, is very subjective. I still think GR60 is the best but due to local availability i've gone back to big game for the start of this.

I loaded a spool of 12lb ESP up for spinning over Coral etc on holiday recently in Mexico and used it every day for a fortnight and it was superb. Knot
strength is excellent, it doesn't coil off the spool even when freshly loaded and the spool filled to the brim, and it coped well with abrasion. It was
good enough that I have spooled up my Barbel reels up with it instead of 12lb Big Game this season which I have used for years and had absolute faith in for
strength and abrasion resistance but always found it to coil badly.
I also used the ESP for making fly leaders in crystal clear water and it was impressive and caught loads of toothy critters. I used Krystonite for the same purposes last year and it was nowhere near as good and I had several breakages on knots even using the recommended palomar, infact it was that bad I still have a bulk spool with around 700 yards on if anyone wants it.

I use ESP for hooklengths, the funny thing is though, I've used Krystonite as my main line on the rocky Trent for two seasons, no problems.
I sometimes wonder if different experiences with line, come down to the way it's stored, before and after purchase? |

You may be right, but my Krystonite was fresh off the shelf, and it was fresh stock (but then you never know how long its been kicking around at a wholesalers
etc), maybe I just can't tie knots
A 'Spool Loaded' date printed on each spool would be good for us users but not so good for tackle shops I suppose, with the amount of different lines now available, I bet some have been on shelves for 3-4 season, |

The Korda stuff looks very nice, I like the suppleness of it ! I am going to load it on to my spools Saturday, but will hope to put it through its paces on the
first day...fingers crossed.

I've spooled up with it for the start of the season.
If it does what it says on the tin then it'll be good! Seems nice and limp and the diameter is good too. ATB Never give up - There's always tomorrow! |

With doing some actual fishing now almost an inevitability, I found myself an hour ago stripping last year's mono off the Speedia Wide on a still-rigged
rod and replacing it with the same from a 1500yd bulk spool of 10lb Ultima P.P. Goes well on my centrepins, this stuff; not quite so good on smaller
fixed-spools, but is perfect after a soak. Taken me some good fish in some "You can't be serious" swims.
