ok,i will try and help,so the obvious stretch would be beat 2 on throop and has a very big head of fish, but the downside is that it is fished a lot in the
summer months,in the popular swims.you should stand a better chance of getting a good swim on beat3 but it would be fair to say that it is a bit harder to
catch than beat2.
another day ticket water i havnt mentioned is lifelands[avon]opposite ringwood tackle shop[where you can get tickets]£10per day.this fishery has a good head of both barbel well into double figures, and chub. if you need more specific info i will send you email or p.m. good luck wherever you end up.derek. |

Thanks to all of you for your advice and help.
Is beat 2 & 3 obvious. How do you get to it from Christchurch?

Come off the A338 at the christchurch turn off, at the end of the slip road turn right at the lights and just before the next lights turn right into a side road. Park at the end of the road and follow the path on the right hand side, this brings you to the side of the dual carriageway, go right and you cross the bridge over the river, drop down onto the river bank and beat 2 is upstream, beat 3 is under the dual carriageway downstream. Not sure if you are aware but you need to buy your day ticket before going onto the water and will need a club key for access, both available from local tackle shops. If you need any other info let me know. Regards Phil

Mark, if I was after a chub and possibly a lucky barbel, I'd personally go to beat 2 and fish on Throop as I tend to think you'd have more of a chance of catching from here. Some people my choose to differ with that opinion but I tend to think that there's still plenty of areas of beat 2 that aren't busy and can produce 5lb + chub and the odd barbel. |
