experience.

Are you winding me up ! Why do you think i said i fish these places in the close season - get off my back - if you want to talk to me my number is on the
web site. I have been on this web site for a while now and have not disclosed my captures but I think I will now ( Pictures can verify) 5 double figure barbel
in one season a PB of 11lb 2 plus two other double figure Barbel, my son caught his first 10lb barbel aged 13!!!!!! Pictures on web site !!!!!! I am not going
to give you the dignity of detailing other captures but people on this forum know me and have seen the pictures as I have said my number is on a web site so I
have nothing to hide (you no name & no pictures)

I don't wish to side with anyone but, I doubt that Eden Meadows would be my first choice as an open day venue. When I could stand for more than 30 sec's, without falling in the river, my first choice would be sone streamy water on the Swale (had some fantastic
days at Sheephills - best day 47 chub to 5lb-08oz,, from a swim no deeper than 18", and without using a keep-net) fishing free-lined flake/crust

Looking good - there might be a drop of wet stuff over the next couple of days to freshen things up a bit, went for walk down the river on monday night and it
seemed very low and clear. Saw nowt moving apart from a couple of spotties. Anyone been lucky enough to see any Barbel yet, have not even seen them spawning on
the shallows this year.
As I type it has just started bucketing
down !!!!!!!!!!

Wear | ||
|
Hi John,
Yes I'll be doing a lot more on the Wear this year. Partly because of oil prices (regular 150 mile round trips are getting too pricy) , partly because the Wear gave me some lovely fish in relatively few sessions last year and partly because the Wear seems to be in lovely condition at the moment (maybe I'm just imagining it). I've certainly learnt a lot on more prolific waters in Yorkshire (and the Severn) and will approach it with a lot more confidence. Enjoyed a bit of stillwater fishing recently, including my first 20lb carp, but itching to get back on running water. Look forward to catching up with you on the bank and I'd be more than happy to give you a hand to reach some less accessible swims! Cheers Jeff |

You and a JCB bucket Jeff.
We now have all the opposite bank to Maiden Castle (from 16th June anyway) which will give better access to some of the unfishable north banks swims. We have had several reports of big fish being lost due to the snags down there in the last few seasons. We also hope to persuade the new owner of the water not to allow canoeists through his section of the river. If he agrees it will scupper the EA's plans to build facilities downstream of Shincliffe bridge. (paid for from OUR money) I had the EA on the phone only this week telling me of their plans. Pity they didn't thoroughly research ALL the riparian owners before finalising their great scheme . If he says 'non' they're $*ck*d.

Hi John,
Good news about Maiden Castle and hopefully we can keep the canoeists away. Like you say its nice the way the EA collects most of its budget from (course) anglers and spends most of it for the benefit of other parties! Jeff |

Howdo Lads, this is my first post on the BFW boards, been fishing the Wear for a canny few years and thought it was about time I showed my face in here so to
speak
A mate of mine was down the river at Durham this evening to have a gander, he took some snaps of the river and it looks spot on Looks like as long as we don't have any torrential rain it'll be in
perfect fettle for the 16th!

Hi Paul, Forgot to answer your PM on the DA boards; It'll be OK for your friend to go with you although I still haven't received anything through
the post. I suspect we could having problems with the PO Box system. I received a final demand electricity bill for some poor woman's living in Lanchester
last week, plainly addressed Lanchester with the DH7 post code but it was re directed to the DCAC PO Box number, makes me wonder how many more are
wrongly/never delivered.

Spotties | ||
|
Fished yesterday morning for a few hours tried the hemp and caster approach with bunches of casters but nowt, my son fished with maggot feeder and had 4 good
spotties. Have not heard any reports aprt from barbelreaper who fished opening night but he also had a duffer. Whilst fishing we saw no signs of any coarse
fish, went to the shallows where the fish would normally be seen spawning but there were no signs.
