Good luck to all you barbelers, both Ladies and gents, for the new season.
I had a wander along the river on Saturday evening and there were still quite a few barbel paired up on the gravel runs and were going at it rather furiously. River looked in good nick, fining down after the rain of last week. Damps |

Good to hear Damper. Conditions on the Medway should be spot on. Lets hope its a successful year for spawning.
We are having a pre-season get together at the Chafford this Wednesday. Everyone welcome. |

Ian T,
I'd be interested on the Loddon/Medway exchange, never fished the river but sounds interesting and have given it some brief investigation. Regarding the crossing dressing I find the nettles and thistle do get up ya skirt - ooooooowwwhh! (Never take me seriously!!)

Hi Guys
Can any of you medway boys got any info on Tonbridge and District Angling Club. Not for just the barbel, but intrested in the tench fishing. PM me if u want. Roger |

Hi Roger. I think 1 or 2 of the regular posters here are Tonbridge members. I was for a few years. Used to be some very big tench in Barden and some decent
ones in the Old ballast pit. It looks like they have a few more lakes/ponds now with tench in. They do have a website:

Hi Roger,
You'll find barbel tough to come by (I've fished the waters for 40 years and not seen one!). As Oaksey says Barden is a serious Tench water with some very big fish - gets a bit busy at times - mainly carpers (there's a good head of carp including 40s) - best fished early - there's a limited number of night permits available. The Ballast Pit and Longfield have some tench. Fish Ponds Farm is a great small fishery with a decent head of smaller tench. Stacks of river - decent chub, roach, perch, bream and carp. There's a nice narrow streamy stretch on the Eden. Can't go wrong at the ticket price! End of advert!! Give Alex Heggie a ring (details on website) - he'll happily give you more info and sell you a ticket. I'll show you some of the waters if you want or pm me if you want a bit more specific detail. Tight Lines Rob |

Just come back for a break!
And Roger (Millie) if you're still looking in, still haven't decided about that club on the Wey for next season. Was told they had lost a lot of
water. True?
We'll banish all sorrow and sing till tomorrow
And angle and angle again. |

Hi Spam
No is the answer, all they have lost is a prime section behind wisley gardens, its a golf course now, but plenty of river still. I got my ticket today, so if u still fancy that trip down memory lane just let me know. I know u guys have had a battering from the dark side, your not alone ,
keep the friendship up thats what its all about.
Thanks guys for the info, wasn't really looking for barbel, strangely few tench waters around this way, im not intrested in carp unless on the pin and a float, but the tench fishing sounds good. Anyway good luck for the new season chaps, from the surrey side of the street
