Can anyone tell me the difference between a JW Young Rapidex & the Trudex. I've got a Trudex but fancy a Rapidex, just for a cabinet but I may treat em
to the odd day out.
Thanks Steve

hi steve,i have 1 of each both 4inch models, the only difference i can see is the trudex is grey with a line guard[although you can take it off]and the base is
different[the part that fixes to the rod]the trudex has a slimmer and longer base than the rapidex, and also is welded to 1side of the reel, where as the rapidex
is welded to both sides, and is black.hope you can understand that.

Thanks Derek, I wondered if maybe the Rapidex had a wider spool..the Trudex has a very narrow spool, but it makes a lovely little stalking reel. Good luck for
the coming season.

Hi Steve,
The main difference is that the Rapidex is a caged reel and the Trudex is not - effectively lineguards build into frame and a little lighter as backplate doesn't need to be as thick. Both available in a variety of colours. Reel foot and other details (check, etc) changed over time. Paul4's database has details of both but I can't find the link - perhaps if Paul's around he wouldn't mind posting it Trudex also available as 5" reel that's an interesting option for the cabinet and odd trip Tight Lines Rob |

Cheers Rob, I agree a 5" Trudex would be fun, especially with my big mitts..
