I,ll start the ball rolling by wishing all the Thames fishers, both new and old, lots of luck for the new season. Damn shame its not the 15th, the river is in
top condition, around 12ins up, well coloured and pushing hard.

A little pic for you all by way of inspiration, well showing off then !!! Caught her the last week of the season, and a new fish to me, from an old haunt. Just goes to show you never know what's out there ! I really did not spend enough time on the Thames last term, for one reason or another. Something I plan to rectify this term and I am so excited, just can't wait. Spot on John, I'm too late for the honour this year. But then I'm not worthy, let someone else have the bad luck by heading the thread !! See you soon hopefully John, take care. Just realise another John has posted too, Hi to you too little John. That's no reflection on you, as you'd know if you have met BIG JOHN !
Ha ha Peter, no bad luck for you really Sir, wish you the best and I'm sure we will meet up again at some point. Good luck one and all Cheers Dick
Ohhh, the weight, have a guess !!!

Had a look at a few swims today on the lower, and the river is well up and over the banks in a few places and its still on the rise as well. What with more
rain due, come 10 days time it will be time to start the season the same it finished in flood with matching tackle. Good fishing to you all in ten days time,
never know might actually get to meet a couple of you.
It was this BIG

Had a look at the river today, a raging torrent, around 3.5ft up and rising. Shame its a week too early, the powers that be will probably run it all off, then
moan about a lack of water if it warms up, and slap a hosepipe ban on!!
Definately getting a bit twitchy now, with a river looking that good, its hard not too!!!! Peter |

Hi all,
I note we have broken the long tradition, of the Thames thread starter, never mind... Good to see you on here Dick I think she goes.................14lb. Belting fish.
"A mound of earth on Walton Breck Road was created for the growing numbers of fans to watch the team. It was called the 'Spion Kop' after a
battle in the Boer War six years earlier. It was not the only Kop - low hill in Afrikaans - nor the first. But it would become the greatest......."

Hi All Nice to see a few names of you good old boys shining away on BFW. Dave and Paul, we will defiantly get something together, assuming you have not skipped across the pond Paul ? I look forward to that. John, I don't know about smart mate. That was I, well haggard after about 10 days fishing. As for the jacket 1p on ebay. Light weight gortex, best thing I ever got. Packs away to nothing, and well camouflaged, at night anyway. Ian, I figure I don't contribute much these days so only fair someone else flies the banner for us. And summer time, make that a firm date for sure ! Greetings Mike, thanks, I've never been far away, just , as you say quiet. See you soon.
As for my fish, well chuffed, my new Thames pb at 14.15 ½. I am very pleased, but half ounce of mine all time target for the Thames. When I set the target it would have been a Thames record. Of course the goalposts have moved now, since some snot caught an 18. Gay, or Guy, someone. Anyone know who the idiot is ??
Never mind I'll get a 15 this year.
Good luck youall ! Cheers Dick |

Always late to the party me
Dick that is a real beast, superb way to end last season . As the Lawman said it would be great to catch up in the summer, I can feel a social fish coming on
Good luck to all you Thames Headbangers for the coming term, early floods again could make things interesting.

The 2008-2009 Thames thread has started, does that mean I have to look at my gear that I dumped in the garage on 14th March?
Cracking fish Dick. Could be an interesting start with some extra water. I fish, therefore I am... |

Hi All Hi Dave (H) yep, well happy end to the season in torturous winds and rain, a dire bite less day until last knockings. A lucky just desert, I'd say. A good old social would be good. Catch you soon. Thanks John (P), and yes get them sticks out and give the crankers a polish, much hauling to be done. Cheers Dick |

Hi Dick, and all you Thamesters, reckon that goes 15 + Dick, the fish is bent in the photo so it's longer than it looks, magnificent fish anyway
congratulations. Thinking about doing a bit at Sonning this year, whilst i was browsing the web with that in mind i found this http://query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?_r=1&res=9504E0DC133FE63BBC4D52DFB166838C669FDE&oref=slogin
seems they were as dodgy then as you lot are now Have a great season
all.
Regards Ian. |

Cycled a long section of the middle today and the river is still hammering through although down some 12'' from a few days ago. Towpaths incredibly
overgrown with the rain we've had that has obviously kept the walkers, cyclists and boaters away the vegetation has gone mad. Can't wait to get a
bait in the water now, good luck to all you - upper, middle and lower boys ! Could be an interesting start to the season.
Dick, what a wonderful way to close your account for last season. Duncan. |

Well, if the river keeps falling the way it is, we should be in for some real good fishing on or around the 16th, should be a lovely colour too. I have the
first week off and plan on using it fishing and nothing else !
Good luck to you all on the Thames this year chaps, let's hope for a top season ! Justin |
