Brian Dowling, the man behind the British Barbel river records list is retiring (see Angling Times, Tuesday May 27th page 38-39).
There is an interesting interview with him, where he tells that he has finally, after 20 years, has decided to call it a day.
Now I've never featured in this list (
) (yet
), but I can see the time and effort he has put into keeping the records, and
would like to say thanks to him.
He dose say that no-one has come forward to take on this job (labour of love?) which is a real shame.
Not sure, but maybe the Barbel Society should be looking to follow on with Brian's work?
He also says that he's been offered a "derisory" amount to convert it into a book...............
