Hi folks, time for me to get on my hobby horse again. All the line mentioned in this thread are good lines, as are some others.
My argument is that it is not the brand of line that matters, it's how abused it's been. Buy your line in bulk spools and respool at least every 3 trips.
It takes just a couple of minutes to do and costs very little (for me it's about 60p per respool, or 20p per trip) .
This way I know my line will be at or near it's peak condition, it gives me full confidence and in the last 10 years I have never, repeat, never, had the mainline break unless the fish has snagged me.
Consider the cost of tickets, bait, travel etc. Respooling regularly is a small fraction of the overall cost, but your line worth a few pennies is the only thing that connects you to the fish.
