Cannabis can play a role in mental illness, but the evidence cannot prove any causal links significant or otherwise, nor do I think it will ever do. Thats where I was from in my second point.

Skin & John, I see where your coming from and respect both your points of view.

Im not ashamed to admit it but I smoked cannabis from 14 years of age up until a couple of years ago. For 10 years I took ecstasy, speed on a regular basis.
During my 20's certainly around the ages of 21-24, it wasnt uncommon to take up to 40 ecstasy pills in a week. I also dabbled in cocaine for a few years.
Im pretty clean these days, due to having a family, though I would have never classed myself as an addict, more a social drug user. You could say I have done
more than the average joe.
To call cannabis a class b drug in this day and age is wrong, that is to say if you can find any cannabis, 95% of people these days smoke weed. Weed that has being hybridised and chemically altered to the point where it is 50 times stronger than any cannabis known to man, Cannabis does belong in class c, personally marijuana/weed belongs in class A |

It's grown to fifty times stronger now has it? As I mentioned earlier, The Independent reported that it is actually three times stronger than it used to be
in the 1980s, but that's beside the point. Does this mean that if somebody who is used to drinking pints of beer is introduced to whiskey, that they will
automatically carry on by drinking pints of it? Perhaps they would smoke just as many cigarettes if they were all made 12 inches long. There might be a tiny
number of idiots somewhere who would, but you can always find somebody somewhere to prove your point if you are really determined. The real danger with
cannabis is that it gets people hooked on tobacco, but our elected representatives seem to be a bit shy of pointing out that rather obvious fact. I wonder why?

IMO-it should be regulated and de crimanalised
Reasons. 1 When,s prohibition ever done any good (unless you,r a gangster) 2 Why make criminals out of people who indulge in a substance far less harmful than alcohol. 3 When there,s a shortage bored kids often mess with class A stuff with devastating results. i.e addiction-overdosing. 4 While there,s some people who will suffer phycosis who smoke skunk there,s no concrete proof the drug is the major factor. 5 I,v seen kids prone to violence and crime who it,s definately mellowed out and who are now working full time. 6 It,s use is so widespread it,s allready making a mockery of the legal system. The goverment is just playing the popularity game with the public again here and if it spent as much time fighting class A drug importers instead of locking up the small fry Vietnamese (main players rarely get caught) and people who do a bit of cultivating it,d be time well spent. All of you who posted saying you used to smoke but don,t bother now speaks volumes. You don,t get many posting saying I was a smackhead for years but got fed up with it. Over the years I,v seen many people die (some good friends) from heroin and alcohol --never known anyone die from weed. I,v seen drunk people commit violent acts and regrettable things that have had life altering consequences, something not common to potheads. If legalised maybe there would be a return of the hash and ganja of the 70,s + 80,s and smoking of the superstrong skunk wouldn,t be so prevalant. ATB Harry |

Cannabis certainly used to be chemically altered, as it was bulked out with diesel, plastic, beeswax, boot polish, Fuller's earth, etc, not to mention
human or animal bodily waste products. No wonder it was weaker.

As i stated before, cannabis is pretty much non-existent in the uk now. The price has dropped that much that no-body bothers with it, so upgrading it
/downgrading it will make no difference whatsoever because NOBODY SMOKES IT ANYWAY!!!!, people smoke marijuana, weed call it what you want cannabis resin is
virtually extinct in this country, as for weed being three times stronger than resin, absolute pants.. New breeds of weed are way way stronger than anything I
ever smoked in the 90's
