Or get yourself a centrepin, cant go wrong with one of those

Posts: 175 (16/05/08 15:33) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	hey rookie barbler my advise would be to get yourself a shimano gte c. or try and find a gte b last years model maybe you would pick one up a bit cheaper. last season was my first spending all my time barbel fishing and i brought myself a pair of MAP 5000 baitrunners, the cost me £80 for the pair. and after about 12 sessions i started getting trouble with the clutch slipping and the bait runner jamming.... not good.... this happend to both. so i brought myself 2 gte c's and they have been amazing. just wish i had brought them in the first place. i would buy quality reels thought mate because the barbel seem to put a lot of pressure on your kit, and as i have learnt cheap kit costs you more in the long run. regards dave

Posts: 786 (16/05/08 15:50) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	impossible to answer really , as every one has different requirements .... do you need a baitrunner ? is the rod a light blank or heavy blank ? are you fishing 2 rods ? i personally wouldnt touch the 'b' series of silver baitrunners with a barge pole , heard to many bad stories about clutches and rotors jamming etc i use a 6000 gte baitrunner , very reliable would a front drag not be a better option ? dont just follow the current fashion , think what you need the reel to do then get the best for the job example , if you are holding the rod all day or for long periods , the 3500b is totally wrong as it weighs a ton ......

Posts: 1 (16/05/08 17:54) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	iv been useing a okuma access a130 for 7-8 years now iv had barbel to 10 pounds and chub 5 pounds with it combined with a shimano barbel hyperloop rod its still going strong and waiting for rivers to open it hold 140 yrds of 10 pound line beleive me id use nothing else mate theres no need to compleacate things keep it simple
